was the top Latin American w/ CJBC nulled.  I was looking for more

880  VENEZUELA (t), YVYM, Puerto Ordaz, MAY 19 0217 - SS ID behind
WCBS sounded like "Mundial" so probably this one.  This is generally
the most common 880 Latin American heard in MA.  [Connelly*Y-MA]  

1000  COLOMBIA, RCN, HJAQ, Cartagena, MAY 19 0208 - RCN Colombian
news by woman in SS w/ frequent Bogota mentions; atop CKBW/WMVP-1000

1020  TURKS AND CAICOS, Caribbean Christian Radio, MAY 19 0146 - 
back here (ex-1024/1025) w/ EE preaching o/u YVRS w/ almost no
KDKA until quite a long while later.  [Connelly*Y-MA]  

1020  VENEZUELA, YVRS, La Asuncion, MAY 19 0146 - initially 
dominant w/ festive music and SS talk w/ mentions of Margarita, 
Venezolano, and Oriente.  Turks & Caicos then started mixing in 
and the two stations took turns atop the channel with no trace 
of KDKA.  [Connelly*Y-MA]  

1040  BRAZIL, R. Capital, ZYK537, Sao Paulo, MAY 19 0151 - 
over the pack for about 30 seconds w/ fast PP talk by 2 men;
then a station w/ SS female vocal - most likely YVLB per previous
performance - took over.  Brazil and a low-pitched growl receded
into the background.  A check of the channel about midnight local
(0400 UTC) just showed WYFX o/ WHO, so "timing is everything" it

1100  ANTIGUA, ZDK, St. Johns, MAY 19 0451 - clear ID "ZDK AM and
FM", then the Caribbean-accented DJ played calypso / reggae type
music.  This seemed to have been silent (or running very low power) 
for the last two (or so) years.  They must have mended whatever 
technical problem they'd been having: the signal was quite good 
w/ WWWE nulled.  It's good to see this country readily loggable 
once again on MW.  [Connelly*Y-MA]  

1170  COLOMBIA, CARACOL, HJNW, Cartagena, MAY 19 0528 - CARACOL
ID, SS Colombian news; good w/ WWVA nulled.  [Connelly*Y-MA]  

1180  CUBA, R. Taino, Villa Maria, MAY 19 0501 - R. Taino ID, then
big-band Latin American music.  Dominant.  [Connelly*Y-MA]
 
1190  COLOMBIA, HJCT, Barranquilla, MAY 19 0322 - jumble of SS
Latin Americans (in WOWO null) yielded an ID that I'm 99% sure
was "La Voz de la Costa".  There's quite a bit of action on this
channel once you null out the "pest from the Midwest".  Things 
won't be as easy when WLIB goes fulltime.  [Connelly*Y-MA]
