 CPC DX tests summary

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

It's not too early to get started thinking about the next CPC season....

Both major MW clubs (IRCA/NRC) sponsor Courtesy Programs Committees. CPC
members arrange DX tests from various AM stations throughout the DX season.
Donations of money, stamps and target station lists are one way everyone can
get involved with this effort. Canvasing for the upcoming season is underway.
Send your donations to the committee chairmen, whose addresses follow:

Mika Makelainen - mtm@xxxxxxxxx

UNID loggings: Unidentified AM stations heard in March 1996 in Finland by
DXer Mika Makelainen:

North America:

800 kHz a US station broadcasting in Spanish. A spot for "Laboratorio
Santo Remedio, P.O.Box 2817", with a 1-800 phone number was
heard. Based on conditions, this is from the East Coast.
880 kHz from the US West Coast, broadcasting in Spanish, announcing only a
mysterious "PRV". Conditions favored Oregon, so I would guess
KWIP Dallas OR, but not sure.
1490 kHz from US in Spanish with a slogan "Radio Fiesta". Based on
conditions at the time, must be West of the Rockies. Slightly
later I identified KBKR Baker OR and KEYG Grand Coulee WA on this
           frequency.

South America:

1580 kHz a Venezuelan station identifying only as "Radio Rumbos, la emisora
de Venezuela". A new station, a new name or a new slogan?
           Location?
1590 kHz a Latin American, presumably Colombian (UTC -5 hrs) station
           identifying as "Radio Uno".

Asia:

891.11 kHz an unlisted Philippino identifying as "DWAR". This was heard
already in October 1995, but still I haven't seen any information
on the station. Has been heard in Sweden as well.

If you have any further information on these stations, please e-mail me
directly at mtm@xxxxxxxxx

(TRH-CA) Tim Hall, Chula Vista, CA ICF-2010, KIWA Loop - MSNL77A@xxxxxxxxxxx

New TIS station:

1620 -- CA, San Diego 7/6 1930 New station noted with tape loop (male
voice): "Welcome to San Diego. You're listening to the voice of
the San Diego Convention Center on AM 16-20. This initial
broadcast is for test purposes only." Gets out fairly well.
Hope this is just for the Republican National Convention, could
be a real pest. New, CA #252. (TRH-CA)
