0950- 6203.74- PERU R. Cusco, 0950-1028, OA campo mx to 0958. Long tlk
(nx?) by M anncr 0958-1026 w/ad block around 1018 and again at 1026
ending with fanfare and ID/pgm intro for the next pgm. Seemed to go off
for at least a minute at 0956 but came back on w/canned anmnt by M
(ID?). Signal strength suddenly jumped up at 1006, but was still poor.
In fact, I'm surprised I could ID this. Seems just a shell of its
former self when it was on 6195 and 6191. ---VALKO, USA 24 Sept.

---CLARK, ONT Canada

1121- 4760- INDIA- AIR Port Blair (Andaman Islands), 1121-1137 Sept 21,
fairly good at tune-in with sub-continental vocal by woman, female
announcer briefly at 1123 introducing next vocal by man. Amazingly
strong peak at 1132-1136 as same music pgme continued - did not relay
Hindi or English news as listed in IndiaBroadbase'97. Best level 15-20
mins ahead of xmtr SS / 30 mins after rcvr SR - same pattern as noted
concurrently for AIR Imphal. USB used to avoid moderate het from carrier
on 4759, possibly Yunnan PBS further off-channel(?).---CLARK, ONT Canada

tune-in with evangelical-sounding vocal by woman; local ID by woman and
station IS, brief anmt by man, then slow-paced vocal, again of an
apparent Christian bent. Weaker at 1140 recheck and had dropped off the
air at 1145 recheck. Still off at 1155 but seemingly back on by 1200,
although almost gone by this time. Also noted presumed AIR's at 1146 on

4970 with chanting vocal but very weak. ---CLARK, ONT Canada

1128- 5005.03- NEPAL- R. Nepal, 1128-1150 Sept 21, weak initially
w/domestic choral, fair at 1140 recheck with man/woman talk and short

---CLARK, ONT Canada

1201- 6130- LAOS- Lao National Radio, Vientiane, 1201-1203 Sept 21,
tuned in too late for the1200 clock tower bells and just caught bits of

distorted) at fair level. Still there but weak w/domestic vocal at 1520
recheck. Hadn't hrd this channel in quite some time but recent reports

currently when propagation to ECNA is good. ---CLARK, ONT Canada

otherwise good signal. Parallel frequency (noted on 11714.55) equally
as good at times. ---FINE, VA USA 21 Sept

Zealand

2034- 7255- NIGERIA- Voice of Nigeria 2034 In English, two men in
"tag-team" discussion on Nigerian foreign relations. Grossly
overmodulated signal, but otherwise good signal for this time of
day.---FINE, VA USA 21 Sept

2105- 5041- GEORGIA- Georgian R. 2105 Presumed this with various kinds
of pop numbers interspersed with comments in language that sounded as
much Georgian as anything else. At 2117, into animated commentary
followed by interview with giggling female. At 2129, slow song by male
chorus and brief announcement that began with "Radio," then left the
air. S/off time fits TBL listing for Tbilisi. Fair/good, though somewhat
choppy. Not heard since, so might have been a special occasion. ---HILL,
MA USA, Sept. 21

2138- 5015- TURKMENISTAN- Turkmen R. 2138 Presumed Asgabat with exotic
Central Asian vocals accompanied by flutes, plucked instruments,
accordions and such. (Much of this music sounds almost American Indian.)
Frequent announcements by woman in seemingly Turkic language, although
the muffled, overmodulated audio made it difficult to be sure. At 2200,
audio suddenly improved -- as though the previous program might have
been a relay -- but increasing co-channel QRM and higher band noise
nullified the better sound. Fair at tune-in and quite strong by 2200.
---HILL, MA USA, Sept. 27

2200- 7210- CHINA PR- Yunnan(?) PBS 2200 Tuned just in time to catch
"5+1" pips, generic CPBS ID in Chinese and into presumed news; another
generic ID at 2205. Was // 5295, which carries CPBS-1 programs. Poor
till 2212, when wiped out by splatter from s/on of CBC, Cyprus, on 7205.
No local ID, so unsure if this is actually Yunnan as listed or just
another new CPBS outlet. ---HILL, MA USA Sept. 21

2203- 11735- NEW ZEALAND- RNZI, 2203-2207 Sept 27, news and weather at

2206- 3909.6- PIRATE EUROPE- Unin R. 2206 Somebody here with pops and
DJ announcements in what seemed English; swamped with ham QRM after
2220, though hardly anything had been readable before then anyway. Gone
at 2238 recheck. ---HILL, MA USA, Sept. 27

2207- 11735.1- URUGUAY- R. Oriental, Montevideo (presumed), 2207-2226*
Sept 27, coming up weak-fair but clear w/fast-paced announcer in
Spanish. Occasional breaks with a music bridge and different announcer
but did not catch an actual ID. Suddenly left the air at 2226 and did
not return. A carrier without audio appeared on 9595 some 5 minutes
later which might then have been R. Monte Carlo. ---CLARK, ONT Canada

2208- 6575.11- NORTH KOREA- R. Pyongyang, 2208-2226, A lot of tlks by M
in lang., then Korean Opera-like vcl mx after abt 2220. Found //9345
which was better. This freq suffered from polar flutter. Something on
6250.04 same time too. ---VALKO, USA 20 Sept

2215- 6480- SOUTH KOREA- R. Korea Int., 2215-2232, Mostly SP tlk by M
w/mx bridges arnd BoH. ID finally at 2231 by W. Fairly strong. 6300
Taiwan, and China on 6790 and 6933 in as well. Doesn't look like a very
favorable path but obviously something is working!!! Quiet Solar
conditions. ---VALKO, USA 20 Sept.

2225- 3933.7- PIRATE EUROPE- Unid R. 2225 Another Europirate with pop
offerings, short announcement by woman at 2235 and into a Hawaiian
sounding ballad. Stronger than the 3909.6 station, but still too weak to
pull through all the ham blather. ---HILL, MA USA, Sept. 27

2230- 4905- CHINA PR- CPBS, 2230-2235, CH ID by M, then EG lang.

5295 (equally as strong as 4905!!!), 5163, and the 6 mhz Chinese outlets
also in. ---VALKO, USA 21 Sept.

2245- 4905- CHINA PR- China National Radio 2245 In Chinese, 2nd
Program (CNR2) with fair signal. Parallel 4800 also noted, but not as
intelligible.---FINE, VA USA 21 Sept

2301- 4904.5- CHAD- RNT, 2301*, M in FR w/final ID anmnt over Hi-life
mx, then instru. NA. Very good. Amazing this xmtr has held up over
these many years!! ---VALKO, USA 20 Sept.

2305- 7170- SINGAPORE- Olikkalanjam 27/ 09 2305 with just a litle trace
( 13331) with OM /YL in advert styles . Next day signal was at 23332
---LIANGAS, Greece

2336- 15009.7- VIETNAM- Voice of Vietnam 2336 In English, news read

signal with deep fading under almost perfect reception
conditions.---FINE, VA USA 24 Sept

2352- 6675.52- PERU- R. Ondas del Rio Maranon (pres.), 2352-0003*, LA
Pop mx, M anncr but too weak to copy anything. Went off w/out fanfare
