WPHG-1620, Atmore, AL.  2-1-98 / 9:15 - 9:50+ PM CST (0314-0350 UTC). 
Now on the air with regular programming of gospel music.  Frequent IDs
giving callsign, city, state, and slogan "We Proclaim His Glory". 
Lengthy station info announcement by President John Mathis giving lots of
technical information, said they were "10,000 kilowatts nondirectional
day" and "1,000 kilowatts nondirectional at night".  Announced E-mail
address, web page of www.wphg.com  (I tried it and it didn't work), as
well as a local phone # and 1-800-495-9495.  Also mentioned that WPHG-FM
90.9 would be on the air soon.  Postal address announced as 805 North
Main Street, Atmore, AL 36502, U.S.A.

Several DXers have reported calling the station and talking to someone
who said they will be issuing a special "first day of operation" QSL
letter.  Although no contact name was provided, a good contact would be
Mr. Mathis, as he signed by QSL letter for sister station WGYJ-1590 (also
in Atmore) a year or two ago.
