 HOT STUFF

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

JD Stephens - Madison AL - jdstephens@xxxxxxxx

It's 9:55 PM CST here on Wednesday evening (0355 UTC), and for the past
15 minutes, I have been listening to someone on 1680 with a loud
signal, tracking George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" album. No
announcements or IDs.

A new X-bander? Pirate?

Thursday evening, 6 :45 PM CST (0045 UTC), with oldies music ("Cherry
Hill Park", "Nah Nah Nah Nah Hey Hey Hey Goodbye"). Strong signal. No
ID noted as yet.

Pat Martin - Seaside OR - mwdxer@xxxxxxxxx

1620 KRIZ-WA, RENTON hrd this morning at 1130 EST 2/16. Very weak
//1560 with talk pgm of some sort. Per BP-WA they apparently are
operating during the day with flea power. Sounds like 100 watts
or under here on Beverage. (PM-OR)
t1700 NY, JFK Airport. unid man talking u/WCMQ with parking info. Hard
to copy and WCMQ was fairly strong. Could catch bits and pieces
during WCMQ fades at 0550 EST 2/13. Soon lost. Caught "New
York" a couple of times and "International Airport". I am going
to try a taped tent. report to them. Hopefully they can make out
       the tape. (PM-OR)

(2/16) I spoke with Chris Bennett the GM of KRIZ/KZIZ in Seattle.
Apparently their very weak signal during the day is 1KW. They will be
operating only with the 1KWer for several more days. Then they will be
the 10 KW day and 1 KW nights. They are very weak here during the day.
They sound more like 100 watts rather than 1KW. All reception reports
should be sent to Chris Bennett-GM of KRIZ-KZIZ, at 2600 South Jackson
Seattle WA 98144.

828 JOBB Osaka, Japan. 1504 UT 12 Feb. Big signal with mx box. Fair
signals also on 774, 747 and 693, though the latter suffered
from 690 splash. Best signals in awhile from these NHK2
       stations.
1620 WPHG AL Atmore 0502 UT Feb 11. "16-20 AM stereo WPHG Atmore
Alabama" ID by southern accented man at this time. Fair
strength in local noise, as it had been with various syndicated
programs previous nights, but this was the only ID. On Feb 7 at
0430, it had been trading places w/SS talk, possibly Argentina.
Both now unlikely w/KRIZ on unfortunately.

I've beenin Lahaina, Maui for about a week, with the ICF 7600. NOt much
exotic to report. Seems like 738 is in every night fair to good, ditto
the big JJ blasters (693, 747, et al). I did pick up KIRO a couple
nights ago at 3:00am Seattle time (the effervescent Dave Dolackey, hi).
Actually, that's not a bad catch from West Maui, as I've got the
mountain range right behind me. No sign of KGO, however, which I;'ve
heard before from the other side of the island.

I do keep hearing a faint EE stn of some kind on 810, tho. DEefinitely
not KGO...woman talkiing/music/lots more talking/music Sometimes a man
doing the same thing. The fiorst night I heard them it sounded a bit
accented (DU-style), but lately it's been hard to tell Never strong
enough for more than a couple seconds. One big clue is that I heard
five pips one night. Is there a bit Aussie/NZ there??

Other UNIDS:

351 Beacon (like I could remember any code) ._.. ._.. _.. 972? JJ
w/four pips ...- I could have been confusing this with a JJ Hawaiian
on 970, but I don't know why the Hawaiian would run pipis ala NHK.
