DAVID J. VALKO - Not much this week. Thunderstorms abound here almost
daily. Last night after one particularly strong storm, our electricity
went off. Being the opportunistic DXer that I am (!!!), I thought I'd
do a little DXing using the marine battery (DC) and see just how much
quieter the neighborhood was. Of course all the local buzzing that
normally plagues my QTH was gone, but the bands were nothing but
horrendous 120 over static crashes!!!! The only shortwave bands worth
listening to were 31 meters and above. And wouldn't you know it...after
about 15 minutes of listening, the power was restored!!! Oh well.
