EDITOR - Incredible but true ! Last weekend evening (July 5) in my
summer QTH in Anzio, first, I connected my AD Sloper antenna into AIR
jack of my Sony ICF 2001 D, then scanning AIR frequencies.........I
listened some SW Radios !!! I noted a strong Voice of America in
English on 126.975 Mhz at around 1830 UTC, with ID and Yankee Doodle,
into px in a Slav language !!! Then, continuing to scan AIR fqys, I
hrd Swiss R. Int in Italian on 121.600 MHz, on 126.825 MHz an Arab
Radio, on 127.150 MHz an unid Radio with a French px, and also other
unid SW radios on 127.425, 126.975 and 125.375 MHz !!! Any idea ??

DAVID J. VALKO - While recording my old SW cassette tapes onto CD
recently, I noticed that there were many more Peruvians on the air 15-20
years ago than there are now. New stations seemed to pop up almost
weekly. New ones don't come along very often now-a-days.
ELMER DAVID ESCOTO ROMERO - The 19 meter band seems to be open from the
East to my location late local nights (04-07 UTC). Although I have been
inactive for a while, now that I'm back to my rcvr, I can hear countries
I would expect to hear on lower frequencies. For instance, here are
some of the catches I was able to make last night. --- 15275, Deutsche
Welle, 0623 UTC, German. Mt problem is I don't know where this
transmission is coming from. It is definitely not Antigua, but it could
be Nauen, Jülich or Kigali. Any hints? Weak signal, but clear channel.
