William C. Demmery - Ottawa ON - wdemmery@xxxxxxxxxxxx

CJBZ-1200, here in Ottawa, is now in the process of implementing an
all-sports format. For the last few days, they've been running a
continuous loop introducing themselves as "Ottawa Sports Radio,"
"OSR-1200," and promising that "opening day" is coming "soon." Heard
yesterday evening (Saturday) and this evening with Blue Jays baseball,
and currently carrying a CBS Radio Sports NFL game (Oakland vs. Kansas
City).

 THE "X" BAND

Pat Martin - Seaside OR - mwdxer@xxxxxxxxx

1640-WKSH-WIS, SUSSEX- rec again, now seems to be a regular at s/on.
This time logged better 9/5 at 0700 EDT, s/on by man, mentioned
call letters several times in KDIA QRM (heavy), then at 0701 a
woman ancr and then the same woman ancr at 0703 w/weather, Taped
      report sent. (PM-OR)
1690-WMDM-MD, Lexington Park. Unbelieveable signal at 0250 EDT on 9/7,
with Sports talk. I thought there was a 3rd X Bander on 1690, as
I never have heard WMDM this strong. It had always been a hard
one to log. This time it was tearing KAYK apart, on top and equal
with Radio Disney. Then at 0300, I heard dead air...followed by "
WMDM, Lexington Park", into Net nx. Unneeded, but what a signal
      "coast to coast". (PM-OR)

NEW AUSTRALIAN X BAND STATION - 1674 KHZ

Apparently there is a new X Band station on 1674 Khz in Australia.
Heard at 1300 UTC Sept 10, with non stop Opera. Couldn't tell language
of Opera, but may have been Italian. No IDs or announcements on the
hour. Audio got louder and softer, cut a couple of times. Sounded like
a Test. Was quite strong on peaks, equal with 1683 in signal, so it
might be from NSW or possibly QLD. Faded out after LSR. Has anyone any
idea on where this is?

Drake R8, 1500' Eastern Bev, term.

Can you solve a mystery here. A U.S station was heard out here And
after listening several times the call sounds to have an extra letter
to it. Sounds like WORLD. It is on 1660 and was heard at 00.04
N.Z.S.Time or 04.04 P.S.Time of U.S.A. Hope you can help us.
                                              Thanks
