The following list of Philippine
radio stations is derived from DX-ing in the period Sept 20 - Oct 13 in Berlevag
and Kongsfjord QTHs in Arctic Norway, both locations at around 71N-30E.
Participants Bjarne Mjelde, Arnstein Bue and Rolf Torvik. Antennas 150m lw
and 450m beverage at 85deg. A majority of the stations listed were logged
at the KONG3 DX-pedition at Kongsfjord (= Kings Bay). Expedition logs will
appear in upcoming issues of Distance (Sweden) and DX-News
(Norway).
Since the 98 WRTH is not fully
correct in this aspect (especially so the MW Section, pp 447-463), we wanted to
contribute on a wider basis with what information we managed to gather.
Please be aware of valuable info published by Hideki Watanabe in the IRCA AM-DX
Newsflash Sept. 2 edition (also sent to HCDX). All times are UTC.
Compiled by Bjarne Mjelde. Please email me at <bjarne.mjelde@xxxxxxxx> if you have
comments or additional information.
558 DZXL Makati
call letter id in news bulletin at 2007. Suppressed YLE for a while which
is quite a feat at this location.
594 DZBB Quezon
City heard at 2000 with GMA network mentions and "DZ-double-B" ID.
Heard first at 1942 which contradicts info that it is on 2000-1600. Also
noted later at 1801. Most probably 24h.
666 DZRH Navotas
heard at 1740, which would confirm info of 24h operation. We managed to pick up
these confirmed relay stations from their announcements: Iloilo 1485, Bacolod
1080, Kalibo Aklan 693, Cebu 1395, Tacloban 990, Cagayan de Oro 972, General
Santos 1035. We also noted the following frequencies (less QTH unfortunately):
1224, 1287, 567, 845 (855?), 531, 855. No local call letters were
given. The 990 relay was very strong and dominant.
774 DWWW Manila
s/on procedures at 2000. Watanabe states s/off at 1600. Address and
details found in AM-DX Newsflash (see above)
837 DYFM Iloilo C
call letter id at 1455, uncertain of operating times.
846 DZRV Quezon
City x-DZNN noted at 1620 with call letter id and jingle, confirms info of
24h. Address/phone no. in AM-DX Newsflash.
882 DWIZ Navotas,
noted at 1630 and 1930 so definately 24h. Hrd with a call letter jingle
once. Please note that according to an earlier HCDX posting by Jorma
Mantyla, the postal address given in the WRTH is incorrect. One possible
link to the station is Eric D.G. Taruc at
(abceng@xxxxxxxxxxx) 936 DXDN Davao C
(QTH acc. to WRTH) only heard briefly, most probably s/on seremony at 2000
mentioning 3-4 stations including this which seems to confirm that it is the
University of Mindanao BC Network.
954 DZEM Quezon
City s/on seremony at 1958 with repeated DZEM call letter id's.
990 DY.. Tacloban with DZRH-relay, never heard anything
like local programming. Another Philippine was noted here.
1062 DZEC Quezon
City s/off at 1600 after EE rlg. px. Stated 40 kW. S/on 2000 acc. to
Watanabe.
1242 DWBL Pasig
noted with catholic mass. ID as "WBL", wonder where they picked
that up. 2000-1600 as indicated by Watanabe.
1269 DYWB Bacolod
with something like a premature EE s/off seremony at 1445 with call letter ID.
Says that they're on the air 4am-11pm local (2000-1500 UTC) with
10kW.
1278 DZRM Quezon
City noted briefly at 2050 with call letter id. A station with "CBS
Reports!" annoucement could have been the same, DZAM or something
completely different :-) Soon drowned in EU QRM.
1323 DYSI Ilolio
briefly with call letter id at 1550. No idea if they signed off at 1600 or
not.
1503 DYBB Roxas
City, there is very little doubt now about this unlisted station, earlier
reported as DYAA. Noted with s/off at 1507. Announcements as "Super
Radyo DYBB 1503" and "DYBB Super Radyo Roxas" + "RGMA
Radyo" which according to Watanabe could be short for Rainbow Global Media
Arts (cf. DXGM-1125 who use "Super Radyo Davao" ID). Also carries a
program named "Roxas City by Night" prior to s/off as noted by Jorma
Mantyla in Finland and confirmed by Bjarne Mjelde. Now if someone could
come up with an address...!
1512 DYAB
carries ABS-CBN programming with DZMM-630?? Or what? Noted with local call
letter id at 1600.
1530 DZME Quezon
City had trouble with Zhejiang EBS, Watanabe says 2100-1500; Mjelde heard it at
1504, Olle Alm in Sweden heard s/off at 1600 (cf. Distance
11/98).
