GLEANINGS
-----------------------

CANADA - Reception from CBC Northern Quebec service on 9625 has been so
poor for years that I was quite surprised to find a loud and clear
signal during the 0500 hour, so the classical music on "That Time of
Night" could even be enjoyed, especially Nov 26 and also when checked
Dec 2 (Glenn Hauser, OK / GH SHORTWAVE/DX REPORT 98-51, Dec 3)

CHILE - Interesting news from Voz Cristiana - station is now using more
than two txers - noted on 15375 9635 17680 between 0800-2100. Recent
reception is at 1700 on 21500 and better on 21550, 4 Dec. (Karl Kruger)
(Interestingly, full sked can be found in HFCC, as well as sked for the
organization's African outlet on 4965 at Lusaka. BP / EDXP # 103)

CLANDESTINE - Radio Free Tibet closed 9710 Radio Free Tibet's
broadcasts were stopped for financial reasons. The group behind the
station RFT included some Lithuanian journalists, communications people,
the Ratekona broadcasting and consulting agency, and the Tibetan
Government in exile. (Pleikys-LIT Nov 12 via CDX 216 / Clandestine Radio
Watch # 18)

COSTA RICA - RFPI has a new 5-minute "Chiapas Daily News" M-F 2155,
Tu-Sat 0555 [not 0505 as on VISTA tape], and 1355. R. Habana Cuba's
Caribbean Desk Coordinator Eugen Godfried from Curacao is interviewed on
"Steppin' Outta Babylon", Fri Dec 4 at 2230, Sat 0630, 1430 (Glenn
Hauser, OK / GH SHORTWAVE/DX REPORT 98-51, Dec 3)

CZECH REPUBLIC - [non]. Is the R. Prague relay via WRMI still going on?
All I can hear on 9955 at 0400, such as Dec 3, is Cuban jamming, with
traces of some talk underneath it. Is WRMI still really using its NW
antenna after 0400? What possible national interest of Cuba is served by
deliberately ruining an English broadcast from Prague to North America?
(Glenn Hauser, OK / GH SHORTWAVE/DX REPORT 98-51, Dec 3)

GREECE - [and non]. For B-98, VOG has expanded its morning broadcast to
NAm to a full 2 hours, 1200-1400, so English news has moved later from
1340 to 1350, on 9690 via Delano; 9420, 12105, 15175 direct (John
Babbis, MD, Oct 26 via Hauser / GH SHORTWAVE/DX REPORT 98-51, Dec 3)

GUAM - The official En sked for KTWR for B98 is: 0740-0900 15200 SEA,
0800-0900 153309 SPac, 1500-1615 15330 SAs, 0930-1045 9865 NEA. Recently
there have been some variations from the above, so stay tuned! (EDXP #
