As promised, 1390 CJCY in Medicine Hat became CFMY 96.1 MHz this
morning at 8:00 am local. They did a nice job on the switchover,
playing some clips from the past during the last hour. An announcer
gave the sign off announcement on 1390 at 7:59 and CFMY officially came
on at 8:00. After a short silence 1390 khz, programming resumed, first
with CHAT 1270 programming, and later into a parallel of the FM. The
only IDs I've heard since are "My-96 FM". Format hasn't changed
radically, still pop/rock classics with a few new ones. Haven't heard
yet how long the AM will stay on the air.

KSMH-1620 was coming in very well in the car (1995 Saturn) on my way to
work this morning just before 1100 (8 AM Pacific); hear TOH ID. Also was
fair to good on the way home around 1940 (4:40 PM Pacific). Signal
strength is about the same as KDIA-1640, which is good news. KDIA gets
out very well.

I have something unusual on 1630 kHz. There is a station heard here in
AZ, weak, fadey, playing Mexican music. I haven't been able to get an ID
as of yet. Time is 0535 UTC 2236 MST 2/3/99. Usually KCJJ or KKWY is
here. KCJJ with rock and KKWY with classic country.

Anyone else have this guy?

Heard on a Kenwood R-1000 with terminated helical coil antenna:

 890 WLS IL, Chicago 2/1 1139 with ID "Chicago's newstalk 89, WLS"
       [new log]

1350 XETM MEXICO, Naco, Sonora 2/4 0340 playing slow romantic music.
The kind with the real nice harmony. Would guess the music is
from the 40s. Gave ID several times. Faded out at 0353.

Have been running the rig on batteries. I have found it helps kill the
AC line noise a great deal and every little bit helps.

Unid USA station:

Heard on 750kHz "You are tuned to AMWL, part of the all new...network"
real puzzle... regulars here are KXL and WSB... ran all-talk. Could it
have been KMWL and a call-change for KXL? Or has someone else changed
calls/formats???

Ideas anyone!

On morning commute home, about 0815 EST this 2/2, I also noted a het on

doubt that this is coming from the same offender as Ragnar's hearing.
