[HCDX]: DX-Camp Bavaria
Hello everywhere,
we are a small group of DXers living in the southern part of Germany. Twice
a year we organize our traditional DX-camp at a very fine location about 40
km north of Nuremberg. The area renders possible the construction of large
Beverage antennas up to 300 metres in many directions. The recent camp took
place from December 9th to 12th 1999. Altogether we had excellent
ionospheric conditions on the tropical bands to Latin America as well as to
Indonesia and Pacific. My personal highlight was SIBC Honiara, which came in
with a fine signal. All participants of the DX-camp listened to the nice
sound of that lovely station over the speaker of my old NRD-525.
All radio stations mentioned below were observed by myself. I had in use the
following antennas:
To Indonesia/Pacific (direction 60°):
200m Beverage, terminated by 500 Ohm resistor;
To Bolivia/Peru (direction 250°):
300m Beverage, terminated by 500 Ohm resistor,
To Central America (direction 280°):
300m Beverage, bi-directional, non terminated
The antenna wire was installed 1,20m above the ground.

Comment: It's an extremely rare event here in central Europe that this
frequency is really free of utility QRM. I don't remember when I succeeded
