Here is more info about the Family Radio Taiwan 1557 station as submitted from Family Radio HQ:

The transmitter site is near Kou-Hu on the western coast of Taiwan.

The station is being programed from Oakland, California.  From there they send a "live" MP3 stream point to point on the internet to the Merlin/BBC control center at Bush
House in London.  From London it gets uplinked with BBC and other
broadcasters material as an Mpeg II Stream on Intelsat, down in Cyprus, up
to Asia Sat II, and down in Taiwan.
 
Testing Started January 15th at around 15Kw.
Some Mandarin language Christian music was broadcast on the 19th at 50Kw. 
Regular programing started on the morning of the 20th at 50Kw. At 8am (Taiwan Time)  on February 2nd the power was run up to 75Kw.  It is due to increase to 300 kW within the next 2-3 weeks.

The station has a very stable and clean -75dBm signal here in Arctic Norway throughout the evening.  The downside of this new station is that hunting low-powered Japanese stations on this frequency will probably be impossible.
