Hello Joe,
theese frequencies are very  crowded, expecially 6060, that it's also used
by VOA and other.
Long Wave 189 is only 10 kW, than is a very dx outside of Sicily. Just in
Milano it is possible hear it only nightime ;-)
Medium Wave are more indicated, however.
Use a good loop antenna!
