Please don't be offended when I say this but can't you tell the difference
with your ears.  Even on a weak one, you should hear a difference in the
audio if it is working correctly.  Tune slightly off freq and then hit the
sync.  If it does not lock on you should get a howl of sorts.  If the signal
level is strong enough the receiver will bring it in and the howl will be
gone.
