Hello,
Just recently, in June 2000 a CIS summit meeting decided on a new task
for the Russian forces stationed in Tajikistan: They had been sent there
in 1992 as peace troops to end a Tajik civil war and are now to fight
"international terrorism". This might be a synonym for cross border
action into -- Afghanistan.
On this occasion two questions:
In 1993 the Russian ministry of defence started Radio Slavyanka to
inform and entertain the intervention force. According to my knowledge
the programme was later changed to broadcast for all Russian forces
(1993) and especially the forces in Chechnya (1995). My last information
on Radio Slavyanka is from 1998.
1 Is Radio Slavyanka still on the air, or if not when did it leave.
2 Does anybody have a schedule and the target areas, if it is still on
the air.
