[HCDX] Solar Report

An M-Class flare erupted at 1213Z on September 12, 2000. The
following Alert was CONTINUED at 0100 UT on 13 Sep 2000 Protons
Event >10 MeV @ >=10pfu BEG 12 Sep 2000 1555 UT Comment: Protons
exceeded threshold on 2000 Sept 13. Preliminary peak >10 MEV: 197
PFU @ 12/2315 UT - This is at least a Catagory S1 proton storm.

At the same period, a new Full-Halo coronal mass ejection was
observed moving away from the Sun at 986 km/s.  This will hit the
Earth's magnetoshpere on Thursday.  There is a 45% chance of major
geomagnetic activity including Aurora.  Northern states may have a
chance to have visual Aurora.  However, the Harvest Moon of today
will impact visibility.

Magnetic K-Index of 4 Warning valid from 12 Sep 2000 2300 to 13 Sep
2000 1500 UT

Magnetic A-Index >=30 Watch for 14 Sep 2000 UT

Magnetic A-Index >=30 Watch for 15 Sep 2000 UT

Magnetic K-Index of 4 Observed 13 Sep 2000 from 0300 to 0600 UT
Comment: Additional K-Index of 4 are possible through 1500 UT on 13
