Joe, if you to to www.hard-core-dx.com you'll see several links on the Home
Page to sites where you can find out more. Thanks to Hermod Pedersen for
reacting so swiftly to this alert. Jan-Willem Drexhage tells me he's already
getting positive feedback from broadcasters who received the mailing. But I
am convinced that it's up to German SWL's and DXers to write in large
numbers about this. To be honest, I suspect that, with our high signal
strength in Germany, Radio Netherlands may not be too badly affected, but
this pollution will have a real impact on the reception of weaker signals,
especially on frequencies below 10MHz where they plan to put outdoor
applications. Tropical Band DXers beware! Further, I noted from the specs on
one of the Websites that the range of this stuff is 300 metres! Imagine
trying to DX in an apartment block where people are using this PLC. I don't
want to be alarmist, but this is a *big* threat! I hadn't realised that
trials are actually starting in Germany *right now*.
