[HCDX] A NEW CLUB! *SHORTWAVE AUSTRALIA*

Dear Radio Monitoring Friend,

This is your personal invitation to join Australia's newest and most
progressive shortwave-listening Club, "SHORTWAVE AUSTRALIA" ("SW-AUS").

Membership of "SW-AUS" is totally free, and Internet/E-mail delivery is used
for exchanging unmoderated news and information, via the TOPICA.COM Network.

Print-based radio monitoring hobby Clubs are facing massive reductions in
membership; this is due not only to the negligible entry of young people to
the hobby, but also to the impact of the Internet as an alternative,
relatively inexpensive form of real-time, immediate, information exchange
medium.

The old days are now history, where "editors" slaved to prepare their
monthly hard-copy "columns"; other people consumed enormous amounts of
energy and money in producing hard-copy newsletters, with information
several weeks, or even months, out of date by the time that members received
it. That is not good enough in the 21st century!

In the present millenium, monitoring hobbyists demand, and require access to
*immediate information*; they also need to make the results of their own
monitoring work quickly available to others - neither goal can really be
satisfied by reliance on hard-copy products, or via expensive memberships of
"print-only" Clubs.

So, in an attempt to integrate the 21st Century needs of the Australian
SWLing/DXing community, an "all Australian" Club, <<SHORTWAVE AUSTRALIA>>,
has been created, being a blend of on-line information and hard-copy
support.
