RRI noted on 15125 at 1230 on 23 April with jingle and apparently pre-recorded
announcement "Anda sedang mengikuti siaran Pro-Tiga RRI Jakarta" (as heard),
i.e. 'You're listening to the Pro-3 broadcast of RRI Jakarta', then the following list
   of frequencies: FM 104.05, MW 1332, SW 9565, 9630, 11760, 11860, 15125.
15125 was the only shortwave frequency audible, and I suspect the others are
wishful thinking. The RRI 11 MHz domestic channel formerly on 11860 changing to
11760 aaround 0100 has recently disappeared.

9680 was in parallel with the main news bulletin until 1230, then with separate
programming but very difficult to hear under co-channel BBC IS and Thai from
1232. It appeared to go off around 1255, leaving BBC Indonesian in the clear at 1300.

The external service has been on 9525 only in the local evening to 1300 in recent
weeks, and was noted again yesterday.
(Apr 24, 2001, Alan Davies, MALAYSIA)
Contrary to my previous report, it appears that RRI is still active on 11760 but with
reduced hours of approx 0200-0900, and is // domestic service on 15125 whenever
I have checked. Possibly the same transmitter carries the alternative domestic
service on 9680 which seems to be off air during the same period. Both 9680 and
   11760 are rather weak here.
(May 4, 2001, Alan Davies via EDXP News Plus)
Pro Empat (Pro 4) RRI Jakarta:
24h on FM 94.95, MW 999, SW 4775 (I'm unsure of the final digit on 4775, my
recording is a little unclear; in any case 4777 has been absent for a long time, and
the only signal present there yesterday was AIR Imphal, the announcement was
   heard on 999)
(May 5, 2001, Alan Davies, MALAYSIA)
9525  observed with VoINS morning sce, 0000-0100 in Sp, 0100 En, 0200 BI and Ar
   0300-0400 s-off. From 0800 s-on in En, S=9 +20 dB, till 1300, both via Cimanggis
   250 kW  075 degrs. 55445  S=9 +50 dB !!, compared to other 'local' senders: 9600
1235 RSI carrying "News Radio 938" in En, S=9 +20 dB.

G'Day from Darwin. I have been on an excellent DXpedition up the centre of Australia.
Whilst in Darwin have been in contact with the UN office here and on the phone to
Dili in East Timor. The UN is running a station "Radio UNTAET" on MW 684, 24 hrs
a day with 5 kW. Program is mostly in Indonesian but some En, Port and the local
dialect [Tetum?] are used. I have heard the stn in both En and Ins. The overnight
mx progr starts at 1200 and runs thru to 2100. No annt are made during this period.

You can e-mail them at <lim4@xxxxxx> (technical manager) or <drurz@xxxxxx>
(program manager). The term UNTAET stands for United Nations Transitional
Administration East Timor. I have spoken to Lim a few times on the phone which is
a local phone call for Darwin and trunks via satellite to the PABX in Dili for which
you need to know the extension of the person you require. He tells me that as Ea
Timor is not yet a country and that there is no regulatory control for radio quite
a few pirates have sprung up - mostly on the FM band.

Further monitoring from a DX site we visited on the Cox Peninsula turned up another
stn in EaTimor on MW 1404, this stn is run by the Catholic Bishop of Bacau. there is
far more Portuguese heard on this stn including relays of R Portugal. Also lots of
religion with prayers by nuns and recitations. Commercials are in Indonesian with
reverb. The currency there appears to be Aussie dollars. "Radio Timor" 1404 does
not run 24 hrs. S-on seems to be at 2100. I am making further enquiry as to the
address and any e-mail for the stn on 1404. Many mentions of "Timor more as'i "
(sic) can be heard and I will find out what this means. [Loro Sae, rising sun, i.e.
   East -gh]

To DX EaTimor the strongest signal out of 684 & 1404 is by far 1404 and Portuguese
should be the clincher for it. EaTimor is GMT +9 hrs.

 DXLD via BCDX No.521)
RRI Fak Fak on 4789kHz became inactive from May 17, 2001.
(Atsunori Ishida, JAPAN)

RRI Makassar on 4754kHz was absent on May 15-17, 2001 and instead of 4754kHz,
   9553kHz was heard until 1600 on May 16 and 17, 2001.
(Atsunori Ishida, JAPAN)

QSL INFORMATION--------------------------------------------------

RRI Palangka Raya 3324.9 letter, v/s Dr.S. Parlin Tobing, Station Manager.
(Arnstein Bue, NORWAY)

RRI Sorong 4874.5 letter, v/s Umar Solle, Station Manager. I heard Sorong in
October 1999, but the reception report wasn't sent until January 2001. A big
   surprise!
