[HCDX] XEBAL 1470

I am extremely surprised of the claimed logging of XEBAL 1470 by some
Italian DX-ers. First, the mentioned dates were extremely poor towards
the Western Hemisphere all over Scandinavia that should be in a much more
favourable situation to receive signals over the Atlantic compared to Italy.
During the dates mentioned the activity of listeneras at least in Finland
was intense. Nobody noted anything more than poor conditions originating
also from
the fact of very unfavorable geomagnetic activities.

1470? CPN has been a powerhouse in the Southern Parts of Finland during the
last month. At this time of the year - early April - it is more or less
impossible
to hear Mexicans on AM in Scandinavia, and should be even more impossible in
Italy. During the claimed dates CPN was very poor in Scandinavia.

On the above mentioned dates April 1-3 when XEBAL was claimed to be heard
between 0210-0310 UTC the grayline in northern Italy occurs between
0357-0501 the latter being the sunrise time in Milano. Very typically - and
almost exclusively - rare trans-atlantic catches during springtime is
received exactly during the grayline period. The claimed loggin was thus
received during a very unfavourable time which make it even more suspicious.

XEBAL is transmitting with an omnidirectional pattern and with 500 watts
during the time claimed. Taking into account the 1470 stations like CPN, R
Huancayo, Vibración, Latina, the Colombians, etc would make a reception of
XEBAL extremely unlikely especially taking into account that R Formula
México DF with 50 kW is the Mexican power house here.

After almost 40 years of experience in LA-DX and having heard more than 80
mexicans in Lemmenjoki, Finland I would argue that this claimed Italian
logging either is a severe mis-interpretation, a bad April joke or a result
of a total lack of DX-experince. Come on boys!
