[HCDX] Last night's Latin American DX frenzy

What I expected to be a Venezuelan feeding-frenzy evening, ended with a
cuban feeding-frenzy after 11PM and maybe after 12AM, with many Rebelde
outlets audible, the strongest 1180 (the slight auroral conditions that
continued throught the evening after some strong ones, knocked out a bit of
WLBI-1190, wich osmetimes put some slop into 1180 adding to the WHAM QRM,
when chassing Latins on that channel - even tough locals tend to splat up to
only 20 kHz away from their minimal frequency, sometimes NYC clears are
local-like, so...) (I've got to sleep at midnight and 10 minutes, so do not
know about how it ended and if Mexicans or Central Americans filled the dial
much after then; I should wake up at 4AM or 5AM one morning to pick up some
more Mexicans, Panamians and who know, maybe Guatemalans).

Here is the report, domestic DX was also nice with a decent reception WRVA
on 1140. Here is the full log (times reported are in UTC):

Pan-American DX:

530 Turks and Caicos, Radio Vision Cristiana NOV 22 0455 - to fair peak with
spanish song (Chiochiu-QC)
600 CUBA    CMKV, Radio Rebelde, Urbano Norris NOV 22 0432 - old-fashioned
cuban music under WICC, parallel 1180 (Chiochiu-QC)
640 CUBA    CMBC, Radio Progreso, Guanabacoa NOV 22 0502 - tropical music,
fair-good signal over Guadeloupe/Venezuela/WNNZ (Chiochiu-QC)
640 VENEZUELA   YVQO, Uníon Radio, Puerto-La Cruz, Anzoàtegui state NOV 22
0117 - fútbol game; very good with no QRM this time
+ NOV 22 0449 - Woman with news, slighltly under Cuba, equal in strenght
with WNNZ, but way over Guadeloupe (Chiochiu-QC)
640 GUADELOUPE    Radio Guadeloupe, Pointe-à-Pitre NOV 22 0457 - Newscast in
french; poor, but with several fair peaks; QRM mainly from YVQO this time

670 CUBA    CMQ, Radio Rebelde, Arroyo Arrenas NOV 22 0416 - spanish pop
song, then woman talking mentioning Rebelde and Marti. Good and atop
for several minutes, parallel 1180 (Chiochiu-QC)
710 CUBA    Radio Rebelde, syncros NOV 22 0444 - Woman SS talk heard way
under WOR, parallel 1180 (Chiochiu-QC)
750 VENEZUELA   YVKS, RCR, Caracas NOV 22 0127 - Sports program, fair and
atop (Chiochiu-QC)
1180 CUBA   CBMA, Radio Rebelde, Villa Maria NOV 22 0424 - Good with
fadings, some WHAM way under; woman in SS, parallel 670, promo that ended
with "...en la tarde, en Rebelde" and some other promos, an old-fashioned
cuban song, then woman talk about "acompañado los cubanos en la noche".
Fair-good at 0459 recheck with woman talking, WHAM stronger, but still
(slightly) under (Chiochiu-QC)
1200 VENEZUELA   YVOZ, Radio Tiempo, Caracas (Dtto Federal) NOV 22 0142 -
Excited SS (sports?) talk, then trop. mx. (have 2 clear "Tiempo" IDs on tape
that were repeated over the last salsa song) until 0153, then back to talk.
Good peaks on a fair signal, that faded from threshold to very good. No QRM
until around 0245 when CFGO begun to appear with their unnulable
groundwave+skywave mix, new for me (Chiochiu-QC)
1500 VENEZUELA   YVRZ, Radio (Vísíon) Dos Mil Cumana, Sucre NOV 21 2303 -
tentative; briefly audible with SS talk by a strong man, before fading down
under an unID domestic (see below) and WTOP; previously heard in September
2001 (Chiochiu-QC).

And on Domestic DX (Eastern Sandard Time here):

  600 WICC Bridgeport, CT NOV 21 2332 EST - program break, ads and WICC
promo; Good signal, way over Cuba (Chiochiu-QC)
  750 WSB Atlanta, GA NOV 21 2304 EST - ID; very good reception

1140 WRVA Richmond, VA NOV 21 2120 EST - Promo "...stay with Newsradio 11-40
WRVA". Fair, no interferences (Chiochiu-QC)
1500 unID NOV 21 2345 EST and most of the evening - heard under/over WTOP
with 70's and early 80's songs, quite good at times. Probably a southern
domestic, any ideas ? (Chiochiu-QC).

In all, a good evening, if any if beetwen 0300 and 0400 (UTC), they were
very few signals avalable.
