That is because Cancao Nova is beamed towards Europe, while
Radio Nacional de Amazônia is beamed towards North America.

While I was in Ottawa last summer I managed to receive a few
of the 10 kW Brazillians in the 25 meter band.  On my 7600G.

Some of the stations here in Brazil have good directional
antennas.  I suspect most don't, but some have and are clearly
audible on mid-level portables very far away...
