Just a few random observations. Most of the FMer's were
made whilst at Ft. DeSoto (at southern tip of Pinellas
County) yesterday.

1610 FLORIDA (PIRATE) "KQV" Parkland [Ft. Lauderdale area];
during a recheck for the the City of Clearwater TIS from
home, at 0140 March 23, this one dominating with a HUGE
signal on peaks, overriding the TIS's with automated format
of bubblegum pop oldies and frequent male promo ID slogans.
It remains totally amazing to hear an AM pirate, much less
from so far away. (Krueger-Clearwater)

1610 FLORIDA WPXE855 City of Clearwater; 2330 March 22.
Female, short loop today with "This is the evening update...
the next update will be tomorrow, Sunday at 10 a.m."
(Krueger-Clearwater)

11750 UNIDENTIFIED 1405-1435 March 23. Good with
subcontiniental pop vocals, Hindi or somesuch M&W chatter.
At 1422, brief accented English by W, "... every Saturday
and Sunday at... thirty... on 13--65 kHz [not sure about the
frequency part]..." then back to talk and subcontinental
songs. M&W at bottom of the hour through t/out. Ideas?
(Krueger-Clearwater)

11787 IRAQ Radio Iraq Int'l., 1355+ March 23. Presume the
one, nothing but carrier so seemingly they just left the
transmitter on all the time and/or can't get the audio feed
to the site, or very low modulation as some are reporting.
Fairly good, faded down later in the morning.
(Krueger-Clearwater)

11850 GUAM Adventist World Radio KSDA, 1357-1400* March 23.
T/in to closing anmts by English M, ID, mailing and e-mail
addresses, mentioned 11800 (not 11850) kHz, then a quick
"This is Adventist World Radio, KSDA, Guam" and transmitter
immediately off. Very good. (Krueger-FL)

87.75 MHz FLORIDA WCTV channel 6, Thomasville,
GA/Tallahassee, FL; 2300+ March 22. Solid local-level
signal with CBS basketball coverage, sporadic local spots
between net ones. No trace of Orlando's channel 6 audio
channel coming through. (Krueger-Ft. DeSoto)

90.9 MHz FLORIDA WKTZ-FM Jones College, Jacksonville; 1520+
March 22. Local level. Tune-in to cool "Call of the
Canyon" scratchy 78-r.p.m. original source audio track by
Frank Sinatra with Tommy Dorsey's band (circa 1940), live
male patter, and promo for the Baptist Cancer Care complex
in JAX. (Krueger-Ft. DeSoto)

96.7 MHz FLORIDA (PIRATE) "Flavor FM," St. Petersburg.
Noted all day March 23 with the usual automted Old School
Soul format, occasional ID's dropped at the beginning of
songs. Remains active Friday-Saturday-Sunday only. Signal
really kicks ass south of Central Avenue on 49th Street.
(Krueger-Ft. DeSoto)

99.1 MHz FLORIDA (PIRATE) "Radio Sonique," Tampa; still
active. Noted 2100+ March 22, with big signal, nonstop
Haitian kreyol political talk. So, if there was an FCC raid
in the past couple of months, this one escaped.
(Krueger-Ft. DeSoto)

99.3 MHz FLORIDA WPBH, Panama City; 1654+ March 22. Local
level audio. Tune-in to ClearChannel net feed Iraq war
news update, then "...92.5 WPAP... ClearChannel Panama
City's sister station, WPAP." Later, "Panama City's station
for the Super Hits of the 60's and 70's." Spots for stores
in Dothan, Alabama and Panama City. (Krueger-Ft. DeSoto)

104.1 MHz FLORIDA WGLF-FM, Tallahassee; 2202+ March 22.
Local level with Classic Rock format (AC/DC, Dire
Straits...). "Gulf 104" canned drops. (Krueger-Ft. DeSoto)
