I read R Zambia is back on 4910 kHz. Glad to
listen to their news programme in English 18 UTC. This reminds me about the
time before Internet. In the 70´s and early 80´s I heard R Zambia on 4919 kHz
and sent my logging to Arne Skoog´s "Sweden Calling DX-ers"-px of R Sweden. I
was proud to hear my name being mentioned in the programme. Radio Sweden
even sent bulletins to active contributors. Very friendly service from them!
My receiver was a Japanese made Trio/Kenwood 9R-59DS- nine valve
communications receiver. This receiver was very, very popular among Finnish
DX-ers in the 70´s. I think. I was very advanced, I had a domestic
made Digidex frequency calculator with my receiver with an accuracy of 1
kHz.
My question is, where are all the great radio
personalities these days?! Certainly Arne Skoog of SCDX was one of
them!
