[HCDX] DX during Great Eastern Blackout II

CIAO-530, CHKT-1430 and CHIN-1540 were k.o.'ed completely. CJBC-860 stayed
on, but CHWO-740 was off sporadically. They didn't seem to have any special
programs when they were on, just the usual nostalgia mx. CFTR-680 was off
for about an hour after the power went out, with only a growlly carrier, but
came back on around 1800 EDT. Of course MOJO-640 stayed on - power outages
are a test of macho and separate the men from the boys. No sign of
JOY-1250, presumably they were knocked off - God works in wonderful ways :)
CFYZ-1280 stayed on, with emergency programming (well, duh, virtually every
flight at YYZ was cancelled)

The following were heard on my Grundig YB-400, powered by 6 Energizer AA
cells. Times EDT/UTC-4

790 WLSV NY Wellsville - 8/14 2026 - over usually dominant CIGM (possibly
killed by outage) with local weather, ID as "your country 790 AM WLSV".

1110 WGNZ OH Fairborn - 8/14 2025 - over WBT with promo for Times of
Refreshing program, Sundays from 2 to 2:30 PM "on Good News 1110 WGNZ".

1200 WKST PA New Castle - 8/14 2105 - dominant with "Tri-County" local news,
local weather "from your official weather station, WKST". Usual pest WCHB
possibly k.o.'ed by outage.

1310 WIBA WI Madison - 8/14 2218 - ID as "News radio 1310 WIBA Madison"
during break in action of Brewers' baseball, with no sign of usual Ottawa
oldies pest (likely off or on reduced power).

1430 WXNT IN Indianapolis - 8/14 2206 - "News talk 1430 WXNT" ID noted in
WENE null.

1430 WENE NY Endicott - 8/14 2014 - dominating frequency in absence of CHKT
with Yankees vs. Orioles baseball.

1510 WPGR PA Monroeville 8/14 1924 - ad for Washington Women's Shelter,
Inc., then faded into mess, but not before local ads with mentions of 724
area code and Greene County, which confirmed it wasn't more commonly heard
WWSM Annville-Cleona (possibly off due to outage).

1530 WLMR MI Lapeer - 8/14 1930 - fighting off Cincinnati with promo for
Mackinac Bridge photo contest, sponsored by Michigan Talk Radio Network.

1540 WECZ PA Punxsutawney - 8/14 1938 - over nothing in particular (CHIN
gone, Albany possibly off as well) with oldies/nostalgia mx and slogan "The
Groundhog, AM 1540 WECZ". QSLed as WPME in 1978.

1550 WUTQ NY Utica - 8/14 2215 - over CBE (assuming they were still on) with
ID for one of their //'s: "sports fans in Little Falls always know the
score, WLFH 1230, the Sports Stars Radio Network", into Sporting News Radio
talk.

1550 WURP PA Braddock - 8/14 1948 - over UNID oldies station with ads for
Army National Guard and Pennsylvania National Guard, promo for G. Gordon
Liddy show on "Pittsburgh's talk radio, AM 1550 the Edge".

UNID:
1430 8/14 2042 - poking through WENE's Yankees game with C&W songs,
slogan "Real country.always playing the great songs of yesterday and today".

1560 sounded almost graveyard-like, with WQEW off. But I didn't stick
around on 1560 long enough to log anything. It was great to have 1540 open
again, and 1550 slop-free for sunset skip. Haven't had that opportunity for
many years since CHIN ceased being a daytimer.
