BBC Radio 4 has a special broadcast entitled "The Archive Hour: Listening To The War: The Birth of BBC Monitoring"

Program details:
"During WWII, the BBC recruited linguistically able German Jews to act as monitors of Radio Moscow and Radio Berlin. Thus the BBC's powerful Monitoring Service was born, which listens in to almost every radio and TV station on the planet. This gripping documentary will appeal to anyone who loves Robert Harris' 'Enigma'."
