[HCDX] European Conference of Christian Radios

Vatican, Oct. 15 (CWNews.com) - Pope John Paul II (bio - news) said that
Christian radio broadcasters have made "a precious contribution to building
Europe on ethical and spiritual foundations."

The Pope welcomed a group of 400 radio broadcasters, who were in Rome to
mark the 10th anniversary of the European Conference of Christian Radios.
During that time, the Pope remarked, the Christian radio stations "from the
Atlantic to the Urals" have helped "to consolidate the recognition of common
Christian roots among your listeners, and encourage their involvement in the
cause of peace." The Holy Father encouraged the broadcasters to "persevere
generously in this important mission." The European Conference of Christian
Radios was founded in 1994 with a union formed by four major stations:
Spanish (COPE), French (RCF), Italian (CORALLO), and Portuguese (Radio
Renascenca). The group now has 14 member stations; Vatican Radio is
officially listed as a "friend" of the organization.
