Very nice opening to SE Asia/PNG, Friday AM,December
3. I hope it's the beginning of many this DX season.

3385, PAPAU-NEW BRITAIN, R.East New Britain,
1143-1154, Dec.3, Vernacular/English, Reggae music, OM
w/ fast-paced talks and tent.ID into up-tempo cover of
Lionel Richie tune. Fair. (Barbour-NH)

3905, PAPAU, R.New Ireland, 1155-1205*, Dec.3,
English/Vernacular, Bob Marley's "Buffalo Soldier", YL
and OM w/ talks, Nice, lite island/choral music until
1200; brief YL and pop ballad until cut-off at 1205.

4000, CHINA, Nei Menggu PBS, 1209-1225, Dec.3,
Mandarin, Weak talks by various announcers,
alternating YL and OM at 1215 until music bridge at
1224. Poor tho improving. (Barbour-NH)

4865, BRAZIL, (p)R.Alvorada, 0039-0108, Dec.4,
Portuguese, Continuous pop music with very brief YL at
0103. Poor/fair w/ No discernible ID noted.

4870, GUATEMALA, R.Coatan, 0005-0029, Dec.4, Spanish,
Rel talks b/w ballads. Full,"canned" ID at 0029.
Sounded like they are using the full "Radio Cultural
Coatan" ID. Weak but steady. (Barbour-NH)

5005, UNIDENTIFIED, 1140+, Dec.4, Vernacular, "Asian"
sounding talks by two announcers. Very weak and
quickly slipped under the static. Nepal? (Barbour-NH)

5040.8, MYANMAR, R.Myanmar, 1131-1142, Dec.3, Burmese,
Ballad, YL w/ talks b/w musical bits, (p)ID at 1142
into choral-like music. Fair w/ het. (Barbour-NH)

5960, ALBANIA, CRI relay, 2137-2157*, Dec.2, English,
Asian "boy band" pop music. Web promo followed by
"Real Time-Beijing" w/ Jane Goodall interview. S/off
announcements and web info, jazz music, more info at
2155, music until 2157. // 7285. Both good. Excellent
when listening in USB.(Barbour-NH)

6130, TIBET, Xizang PBS-Lhasa, 1033-1047, Dec.4,
Announcers w/ talks over wind instruments. Ballad at
1045. Fair. // 4905-poor. (Barbour-NH) 

7115, EGYPT, R.Cairo, 2317+, Dec.3, English, News re
Palestinian elections and U.N. Tanzanian V.P. visit.
Fair tho battling for dominance with co-channel RFE-RL
via Morocco. (Barbour-NH)

7125, GUINEA, RTV Guineeine, 2324-0000, Dec.3,
French/Vernacular, Long talks b/w two announcers; one
doing all the talking, the other with constant
"mmm-hmm", Afropops at 2343 w/ talks b/w selections.
"Radio Conakry" ID at 2347. S/off announcements, ID
and NA at 2358. Overtaken by RIR, Russia at *0000.
Fair/good. (Barbour-NH)

9965, PALAU, KHBN, 1243-1301, Dec.3, Mandarin, YL w/
religous talks over music, OM at 1252 into ballad.
"Asian" fanfare w/ (p) ID, orchestral fanfare w/ OM at
1300. Fair w/ fluctuating audio levels from good to
