Ramayana on radio
Kolkata, July 10 (UNI): Almost two decades after the
roaring success of B R Chopra's 'Ramayana' on
Doordarshan, All India Radio, Kolkata, is following
suit with an episodic presentation of the oldest
Indian epic.
"The programme is set to roll off on Mahalaya (October
3). The recording has already been completed and there
will be 34 episodes of 30 minutes each," Asim Kumar
Rej, Station Diretor, AIR, Kolkata, said.
The serial is an adaptation of Krittibash Ojha's
'Ramayan', written in Bengali. It will also
incorporate other local versions, such as the
'Bishnupuri' and 'Jagadambi', Rej said.
