3. In 1943, Homer Willess was on lonely duty in American Samoa. He
rigged up a low power transmitter, grabbed some records and filled
the night air with great music. From this small start on 1050kc,
eventually grew WVUV, and what's now the last remaining original
callsign from the WWII era still broadcasting in the Pacific. Homer
recently told us about his Samoan adventure and how it led to a

4. Part 1 of the six-part serial about KFSG Los Angeles is now
on-line. Written by Jim Hilliker, US radio historian, this well
researched serial explores the early decades of a station which
became an institution on the West Coast. In Part 1, we go back to the
beginning and a young woman who was to take LA by storm........

5. Also on-line now is Khyber Radio Journey, a unique look into
broadcasting in Afghanistan in the 1960's..before the Russian
invasion, before the Taliban. Exclusive photos from an original item
of Radio Kabul memorabilia now in our archives make this a great
read. Our thanks to Adrian Peterson for this personal journey.

6. Thanks to everyone who responded to our call for volunteers to
work on the Shortwave version of the Pacific-Asian Log. We had more
volunteers than expected, so the team has been doubled to eight and
will be starting shortly once the last positions are filled! 

7. We're also preparing the FM version of the Pacific-Asian Log. We
have a number of team members already in place, but more are welcome.
This will include every FM station on air in the Asia-Pacific region,
along with market information useful for stations and listeners
alike. Write to info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx if you'd like to know more.

8. Bruce Portzer has updated the AM Pacific-Asian Log at
www.radioheritage.net, with 4000+ stations across the region. Check
your own station listings at www.radioheritage.net today. It's
searchable by frequency, location, and country and easy to use.

9. Remember, the Long Lost Australian Radio Stars series now includes
2CA Canberra, 2CH Sydney, 2KY Sydney, 3MA Mildura, 5DN Adelaide and
7LA Launceston. Unique photos and details from the radio stars of the
1940's. The third release is scheduled later this month.

10. Australian radio fans can also check out Early Australian AM
Radio for a state by state listing of stations from the 1919-1929
era. You'll also find the origins of many call-signs and other useful
information.

11. Many thanks to supporters over the past couple of weeks for
making Paypal donations, buying books, sending us car sticker
collections, alerting us to the location of memorabilia to be added
to the archives, for volunteering to work on the PAL guides and for
sending us photos and stories for publishing on-line. Thanks for your
personal contribution to protecting Pacific radio heritage!

12. WVTR's Sea Monster story has proved immensely popular! If you
haven't seen it yet, check it out. We've also got several other
stories about WVTR Tokyo now on-line. 

13. Coming on-line soon are the China-Burma-India stations of the
American Forces Radio Service in 1944-45. There's not much known
about these, although actor Gene Hackman was a youthful 18 year old
announcer on one of the Chinese stations. Really. Read his comments
here at www.radioheritage.net shortly.

14 Also coming soon, the inside story about WASA McMurdo, Antarctica.
Yes, such a station really existed. The mighty 600 AM. Providing
entertainment for the McMurdo and Scott Base stations in the 1970's
and home of a world record for the longest continuous DJ broadcast!
