FM bidding separates smarter players from rest
The recent bidding war for FM radio frequencies has
created many winners and losers, but some winners may
have won only pyrrhic victories, having bid too much
for their stations. An analysis by DNA Money shows
that while the Sun TV group of Tamil Nadu bagged the
maximum number of FM radio frequencies, the Anil
Ambani group-backed Adlabs appears to have bid the
smartest.

Internet radio fails to get the right click
Even as India is witnessing a revolution in the
terrestrial radio sector, several FM players are
learnt to be keen on starting internet radio service,
too. But, most private FM companies that DNA spoke to
pointed out that the revenue model for internet radio
is yet to be firmed up.According to Phonographic
Performance Ltd (PPL) CEO Vipul Pradhan, there are two
types of internet radio: simulcasting terrestrial
radio online and setting up standalone online radio
stations. While simulcasting would mean broadcasting
the same content as on the terrestrial or FM channel
in a free-to-air mode, a standalone online station
would ideally have a subscription-based model.

Official Press Release on Foreign Content On
Television
Media scene in the country has changed drastically
over the last decade, ever since the dish and
satellite signal systems took over. The consequent
ease and facility of downlinking/broadcast resulted in
proliferation of TV channels. Transmission signals are
now available from all over the globe for telecast.
Hitherto, the Cable and Television Network
(Regulation) Code 1995 was the only provision
available to regulate downlinked TV signals in the
country. With a view to ensuring that TV channels
operate responsibly and content provided to the
viewers is healthy and conforming to times,
downlinking guidelines were imperative.-Indlawnews.com
