XERTA usurpation of 4800 while RBN was inactive; heard at 1238-1355
and until 0433 sign-off

Jan, early Feb, widely reported from America and Europe
*No SWBC from Nicaragua now, but YNOW, R. Corporación, heard on 540.18

state, south of Caracas, one 50 kW tropical bander, and 5 x 100 kW
SWBC banders, on air soon per Arnie Coro; also to reactivate its old
transmitter on 9540
*Radio Manantial, Huancayo, Perú, 4990.8 heard in the mornings;

*On 6539.6, Radiodifusora La Voz del Rondero, Huancabamba, Perú heard
at 0105 in Argentina
*Still not certain of identity of Bolivian around 4450; could be Radio
Eco, 4451.2, but also reported on 4409.8; another ID on 4450 sounded
like Radio la Cruz del Sur
*Rádio Norte, Londrina, Paraná, heard in São Paulo at 0438 on 3480,
third harmonic
*Rádio Cultura, São Paulo, heard around 2000 on 9585 instead of 9615;
9585 should be Rádio Globo
*Radio Nacional, Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, 6250 had been reported
signing on at 0600, but now reported from 0457 altho better signal at
0600
*After fighting in the capital damaging the station, RN Tchadienne
back on 4905, but somewhat irregular; said to be operating from
facilities of a private station in a mosque
*R. Ethiopia inactive on 9704; V. of Tigre Revolution, 5950, and also
on 6170 but the latter may be an anti-clandestine jammer
*R. Cairo, general Arabic service heard at least one night on 6225
between 0000 and 0300, instead of 6290, apparently by mistake; very
low and distorted modulation
*BBCWS closing remaining SW service to Europe Feb 18; except to
western Russia
*BBCWS Americas stream via yahoo.com has finally been removed
*24-hour strike by journalists in France Feb 13, including Radio
France Internationale, filling with music and IDs instead
*R. Sweden cancelling German service without evidence that
listenership is declining; also has weekly program via NDR
*R. Bulgaria in Russian at 1500-1600 on 7200 from two sites at once
with echo
*Nagorno-Karabakh declared a SWBC radio-country by NASWA, represented
by V. of Justice on 9677; see DXLD 8-017 for Dan Henderson`s QSL

*R. Jordan, reactivated on 11690, heard in English an hour later than
before until 1838
*R. Kuwait, 15110, English at 0500-0800 loud and clear into NSW, and
Bulgaria, where the wonderful music is enjoyed by Rumen Pankov
*V. of Kurdistan, 6335, English at 1600-1700 with news every quarter
