 WORLD OF RADIO 1412 SUMMARY:
*CINW 940 Montreal switching format June 13 from news/talk to
Montreal`s Greatest Hits, firing staff including Dennis Trudeau
*Toronto`s L-band digital radio stations gone, except for CBC cluster
*WYFR working on starting DRM transmissions, first on US SW, but not
right away; can hardly wait to hear Harold Camping in DRM
*WHRI was on 11750 for Hmong Lao Radio June 1 only; since then back to
11785, Sat & Sun 13-14 UT; same frequency sporadically on the air
 weekday mornings
*Chaffey College, Rancho Cucamonga, publicizes its student AM radio
station in 1010 kHz with 30 watts --- so it must be illegal; off air
 anyway for summer
*KCTA, 1030, Corpus Christi TX, licensed for daytime only with 50 kW
non-direxional, also on air evenings with open carrier or religion
*WPBT, ch 2, Miami, widely seen by sporadic E, welcomes DX reports,
including via web contact form; will lose its status next Feb as DTV
transition leaves it on channel 18
*Pirates on 6925, Radio Maple Leaf, and Twentieth Century Radio, boom
 in from Pennsylvania to Texas
*Dave Frantz of WWRB says he has two airplanes outfitted with
sophisticated direxion-finding equipment, able to locate Florida
pirates with one pass over them; beware
*FCC authorization of FM translators for AM stations pending;
meanwhile has allowed 100 of them specially, temporarily
*Unidentified varying around 6104.7 is Mérida, Yucatán reactivated
 after several years
*200 cops bust pirate FM 90.9 in Monterrey NL, Radio Tierra y
Libertad, dedicated to popular and children`s issues; had tried to
 get license
