[HCDX] Logs for Al Muick 10 November

ACC: Palstar MW-550P mediumwave preselector
1143 TAJIKISTAN, Russian Intl.R. relay heard at 19.40 on 10 Nov with S4
sigs and steady level. Some nice RU rock and pop mx made for a half an hour
or so of enjoyable listening. Listed as 150kW
4940 SAO TOME E PRINCIPE, (tent.) VoA w/African/Latin-style mx heard at
20.05 on 10 Nov. Didn't really hear any announcements. It was mostly
straight mx. OM talk heard at 20.32 in poss. Hausa (fits sked), poss. nx.
Sao Tome relay ststion is the only thing sked'ed on this freq at this time
per HFCC, although pattern doesn't really fit typical VoA, and SAm seems too
far to consider in the realm of the possible. Fair to poor sigs with a
fluttery fade. Seems to jive with 100kW and a 30 degree beam...
5915 SLOVAKIA, SRI heard at 20.45 on 10 Nov in FR w/some kick-ass Slovak
hard rock. Yeah, anything rock or heavy metal causes me to pause on freq.
I refuse to grow up! LOL Excellent sigs into Kabul at this time. Too bad
it's 01.20 in the AM here...
I will be doing some antenna remodeling here in the coming days and have
ordered the company servicing the generator to ground it as well. I was
inspecting it the other day and there is no earthing from the genset to the
ground. I will also be preparing a proper house ground pit
(salt/charcoal/water/3m copper rod) and we'll see if this all improves the
noise level.
