Retro Radio Dial South East Asia 1953

Those local Indonesian shortwave stations of memories, and other
long forgotten friends: come along and jog old memories, and start a
conversation about where have all the stations have gone with our new
look at old time South East Asian radio.
Malaya and Singapore were still colonies, Vietnam was fighting for
independence from France, and Indonesia dominated the shortwaves with
the powerful transmitters they'd inherited from the Dutch a few years
earlier.
It was a time of rising tension in the region, a time when Radio
France-Asie still played romantic French songs from Saigon whilst
Radio Hirondelle offered the Voice of the French Army programs from
its studios in Hanoi.
Retro Radio Dial South East Asia is the latest in this fascinating
series that takes a look back at the world's radio dials 60 years ago.
Enjoy all of them at www.radioheritage.com.
