LÅ 236 DXPEDITION LOG OF UK STATIONS

549 27.12. 0700 UCB Europe via an unlicensed transmitter in
Ireland. Excellent reception quality. The two other Irish pirates on 845,95
and 981 were also heard quite well. LÅ236/JMS
738 28.12. 0704 BBC Hereford & Worcester, Worcester. Alone on
the frequency. Power just 37 watts! LÅ236/JMS
828 27.12. 0002 Classic Gold 828, Luton. Very difficult
frequency because of the Dutch station. LÅ236/JMS
828 29.12. 0704 Magic 828, Leeds. LÅ236/JMS
855 27.12. 0705 BBC R Lancashire, Preston. LÅ236/JMS
936 28.12. 0715 Fresh R, Skipton. Has been quite strong lately.

1035 27.12. 0640 Country 1035, London. Frequency dominated, as
almost always, by NorthSound. LÅ236/JMS
1035 29.12. 0724 BBC R Sheffield, Sheffield was clearly the
highlight of this expedition. In February 1982 I heard all the other UK
stations on this frequency (Country 1035 was 'replaced' by BBC R Medway
those days) and since then I have been haunting for this. 20 years and 10
months!!! Available just for two minutes (0724 and 0745) under Country 1035.
NorthSound was totally absent thanks to the 'Scotland Off' -phenomena, which
occurs once or twice a year. LÅ236/JMS
1152 29.12. 0650 LBC 1152, London. Soon they'll be on FM and a new
station will start here. Was audible just a few minutes under Classic Gold
Amber and Magic 1152 Newcastle. Also Clyde 2 heard. LÅ236/JMS
1332 29.12. 0905 BBC R Wiltshire, Wiltshire. Beating the dominants
Manx R and BBC R Lincolnshire. LÅ236/JMS
1350 always 24 h Kingstown R, Hull is audible throughout the day.

1449 29.12. 0850 BBC Asian Network, Peterborough. The usual
dominant BBC R 4 from Aberdeen was totally absent. LÅ236/JMS
1485 27.12. 1310 Haagstad Raadio, Holland over the normal dominant
BBC R Humberside. LÅ236/JMS
1521 27.12. 0725 Forest of Dean R, Coleford. Pre-recorded
announcements outside the normal programming hours. Classic Gold is a clear
dominant here. LÅ236/JMS
1557 27.12. 1305 BBC R Lancashire, Lancaster. LÅ236/JMS
