CKEC 1320 in New Glasgow moves to FM posted December 13th, 2007 - 10:45 UTC by Andy CKEC 1320 in New Glasgow, Canada, became 94.1 East Coast FM at exactly 9:41 am on Tuesday, after four years of planning and preparation, said station general manager and vice-president Mike Freeman. The station will continue to broadcast the 1320 AM signal for another three months to ease listeners' transition to 94.1 FM, he said. I see that it is still regularly logged as transatlantic DX. This will be the last winter when mediumwave DXers in Europe will be able to log this station. [BDXC Moderator: This is a great pity as CKEC is one of the easier Canadians to hear on MW, even here in southern England. They were a good verifier as their Chief Engineer since 1972 (when I wrote to them back in 2004), was Peter Lann who was also a radio amateur & DXer. They even had a map in their lobby showing where they'd been heard: "We invite you to come into the CKEC Lobby and see our DX World Contact Map. CKEC has been heard from the Northern Scandinavian Countries to Cape Town on the Southern tip of the African Continent." http://www.ckec.
