Hi there, DX-gang. It_s me again, still talking about Mexico on 5985.
Because just today a nice QSL-package for a report about reception of Radio
Mexico Internacional (the one I told you about yesterday) arrived in my P.O.
Box. Excellent timing without question :-) By registered letter they sent a
proper QSL-card, a nice sticker, a new pennant, a detailed schedule, a
report form and a personal letter. This letter has been written in a very
friendly way and has been signed by Juan Mort. He writes that they are
really interested in establishing contact with listeners around the globe.
And judging from the package they sent, they are really prepared to deal
with DXers and other strange people :-) The pennant is a simple but still
nice one, showing the station signet as well as their (rather) new
frequencies 5985 and 9705 kHz. Their postal address reads: Radio Mexico
International, Apartado Postal 21-300, Mexico, D.F., 04021 Mexico.

According to their schedule they have English programming at 1400-1430,
1500-1530, 1900-1930, 2000-2030, 0300-0330 and 0400-0430 UTC. At other times
Spanish programming is aired. A program called ENCUENTRO DX is broadcast on
sundays at 1530-1630 and 0000-0030, saturdays at 1800-1830, and thursdays at
0100-0130 UTC. United Nations programming mondays at 2300-2330, wednesdays
at 1300-1330, saturdays at 1500-1530, sundays at 2000-2030 UTC. According to
their schedule they use 5985 kHz in parallel to 9705 kHz at 1200-1600 and
1800-2300 UTC. Between 2300-0500 UTC from July to September only 9705 kHz is
used. So, in case they really stick to their schedule, at the time 9705 kHz
is the channel to look for them here in Europe. Or you catch them on 49m
before 2300 UTC.

When I heard that station the first time in the early 80s on 15430 or so
kHz, they had a German tourist program every now and then. It took me
several years to get a reply out of that station for a reception report and
countless f/ups. And now just one letter produces such an interesting result
after just three weeks. It certainly pays to stay in the hobby for a longer
period of time :-)

Nothing more for now. Let_s try for Mexico on 9705.
