IRCA Mexican Log, 4th Edition

The IRCA is proud to announce the release of the 4th edition of its MEXICAN
LOG. The IRCA MEXICAN LOG log lists all AM stations in Mexico by frequency,
including call letters, state, city, day/night power, slogans, schedule in
UTC/GMT, formats, networks and notes. In addition, stations that have
changed frequency since 1990 are cross-referenced on the old frequency. The
call letter index gives call, frequency, city and state. The city index
(listed by state, then city) includes frequency, call and day/night power.
The log has been completely updated from the 1994 edition and carefully
cross-checked by IRCA members in Mexico and the US. This is an
indispensable reference for anyone who hears Mexican radio stations. Size
is 8 1/2" x 11" and three hole punched for easy binding (optional).

Prices: IRCA/NRC members - $6.50 (US/Canada/Mexico/seamail), $7.50 (rest of
the Americas airmail), $8.00 (Europe/Asia airmail), $8.50 (Australia/New
Zealand airmail). Non-members: add $2.00 to the above prices. Make checks
out to: Phil Bytheway.

Karl Zuk writes about 3 CT stations running their own news net. All owned by
Commodore Media, they all run the same newscasts and cross promote the
group's coverage area. A money saver and a cute gimmick. (Look for more of
this kind of thing. With the new ownership rules alot of these AMs are
going to "group" together and run simo.-ed) The stations on the new net are:
WSTC 1400 in Stamford, CT, WNLK 1350 in Norwalk, CT and WLAD 940in
Brookfield-Danbury, CT.

Not sure (Trans-Atlantic or Pacific?)

1008 UNID and puzzling. This carrier showed up at 0425 11/17 which was just
after the Hawaiians made their first pitiful appearances of the
night. NOTHING else was in yet - no Pacific island stations or early
       - arriving Japanese megasignals. The only TP area in darkness was the
very northeastern tip of Russia north of the Kamchatka peninsula.
Petropavlovsk (middle of the Kamchatka peninsula) has a local sunset
of about 0500 and was not heard later, but this weak carrier coud
have easily been buried under Osaka. Everything else (Japan and
Khabarovsk) had a much later sunset of 0750 GMT and 0720 GMT
respectively. There wasn't a single TA carrier which would discount
the sudden appearance of Holland. There also wasn't so much as one
carrier yet from any of the Japanese powerhouses. Tantalizing for
       sure. (bp/ch)
1575 UNID and puzzling just like 1008 about 0425 GMT 11/17. This time the
earliest fade-in would theoretically be the Russian in
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (just a few hundred miles directly north of Japan
with a sunset of about 0655), New Zealand (sunset about 0750), or
the Japanese FEN station in Misawa (sunset also about 0750 GMT). I
