Always nice to get off work on Friday afternoon and find that conditions are up.
The opening to the America's here in Taiwan is from 0800 till 1000+ and today
there were quite a number of stations coming in.

Brazil
Signals on 11805 (Globo), 9675 (Cancao Nova), 9665 (Marumby), 9645 (powerhouse
Bandeirantes), 9585 (CBN, but how do they identify nowadays?), 9505 (Record),
6135 (Aparecida), but not enough time to ID.

The following were IDed and new for me:

9515 0927-0934 Radio Novas de Paz 31/1/1997 Full ID w/freq. and mentioning Curitiba.
Commercials and music program. Signal: fair.
9724 0920-0927 Radio Clube Paranaese 31/1/1997 Under really strong empty carrier,
so clear reception. Full ID and assured "en todo Brasil". Signal: good.

Antigua
6160 0905-0919 Deutsche Welle 31/1/1997 English news. ID. Weak, but first time Antigua
for me here in Taiwan. Signal: poor.

Ecuador
6125 0855-0901 HCJB 31/1/1997 Thought this was Brazil, but must be HCJB listed here in
Portuguese. No ID though and signal deteriorated fast. Signal: poor.

Paraguay
9735A 0950-1000+ Radio Nacional de Paraguay 31/1/1997 This is also a no ID, but just
have to notice them, because it's first time reception for me this year. Used to come in
very strong some years back, but BBC WS on 9740 is so strong that I can hardly call it a
signal. BBC isn't even listed here according to my information. I really like RN de Paraguay,
because of their music selection. Signal: poor.

>From Asia there were two noticeable frequencies:

Korea
6015 0843- KBS Liberty Program 1 31/1/1997 In Korean, but I didn't care to wait for an
ID. Boring program anyway and lousy signal. Seemed jammed, but it could have just been
noise. Signal: poor.

China
6030 0845-0849 CNR 1 31/1/1997 ID into program about law. In Mandarin of course. I've never
seen a listing for this frequency, so I guess it's a new one. Signal: fair.

BTW: when did CPBS become CNR? I've been out of the hobby for a while, so maybe a stupid
question. They still identify in Chinese as "Zhongyang Renmin Guangbo Diantai", so as far as I'm
concerned it's still CPBS. They do use the English ID "Chinese National Radio" for some music
programs though.

Have a nice weekend y'all. And remember: next week Thursday (Feb. 6) is Chinese New Years
Eve (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month). Might be some extended Chinese transmissions.
