		VOLUME SIX - NUMBER ONE

June 1st 1997

Hello and welcome to this weeks issue of the Weekly.

KIWI RADIO will be broadcasting today Sunday June 1st at 07.15 utc
on 7475 khz USB, repeating last weeks programme line up of both
RADIO NORTHSEA INT and KCGR-COUGAR RADIO INT
(both addresses are in last weeks Weekly).
KIWI RADIO stopped it's broadcasts last Sunday May 25th at 08.07 UTC
because of severe propagation causing extremly poor reception of KIWI
RADIO to listeners in Australia and New Zealand, yet Email recieved
told us that the signal was heard in Germany, USA, Canada,Argentina
and other places, so hopefully this time around the results will be
better for
Pacific listeners. We did NOT have a fault with our transmitter, as has
been said by some publications.

Reception Reports recieved via Snail Mail for broadcasts this month
will be answered with "PERSONALISED QSL CARDS"produced
especially for each DXer - So yes if you want one you MUST WRITE
to us with your report.

We have got some orders for our T-shirts and booklet sets.
There will be a small delay as these are being updated at this current
time, and as soon as this has been completed ALL orders WILL be sent
out.

The Next scheduled broadcast will be next Sunday June 8th also from
07.15
UTC on 7475 khz.USB
KIWI PROGRAMMING IS LIKELY TO COMMENCE FROM AS EARLY
 AS 06.30 UTC with relays from;

		KFM - UK
		C/- P O BOX 3103
		      ONEKAWA
		      NAPIER
		      NEW ZEALAND

and RADIO JEMIMA
		P O BOX 12-128
		AHURIRI
		NAPIER
		NEW ZEALAND

These relays will start at 07.15 utc.

There may also be another relay programme, if the programme gets here
in time.

KIWI's handover of it's transmitters WILL GO AHEAD, despite a number
of people asking us to please "RETHINK" about this move.
It is time for us to move on and let someone else carry the reins of
Free Radio in the Pacific.
The Handover is scheduled for June 29th 1997. (29 days away).

Now onto other news in this week:

		*****************************
Would you like to help out a Shortwave Listener in a developing
country? You can by donating your last years edition of the World
Radio TV Handbook or Passport to World Band Radio. In many countries
these books are very difficult to obtain or very expensive.

Please look at the following URL for more info:

http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/4819/book.html

This page will explain how the project works. Cumbre DX currently has
20 DXers who have requested a book that we have not been able to find a
donor. These countries include:

2 from Colombia
1 from Ecuador
1 from Nigeria
2 from Cuba
5 from India
3 from Argentina
1 from Trinidad
2 from Brazil
1 from Chile
1 from Mexico
1 from Honduras

The response this year has been excellent. Thanks to the publicity
received
from Glenn Hauser, Marie Lamb, and Kim Andrew Elliott on their radio
programs. Last year Cumbre DX matched over 50 SWLers who requested
books while this year we have had well over 160 requests with more
 requests arriving weekly.

Anyone interested in participating this project please let me know and I
will email you the address of the SWL who has requested a book. You will
be helping out a fellow SWL and who knows make a new friend along
 the way!

Just think for a moment what it was like when you did not have a
reference book to listen with?

Your help would be appreciated.

73,

Ulis
