Howdy all & welcome to PiPa#205! (This is just the cover sheet, PiPa #205
should either be an attached file to this or should follow right after my
own greetings & name). If you only get the cover letter & not PiPa#205, drop
me a line...it's happened a few X....
News:
Once again, some of the biggest news flying from the US front on the FM
band. The Tampa Party Pirate was raided by the FCC just after (I believe)
the last PiPa went out. For those of you who haven't seen the case on
alt.radio.pirate or the FRN Grapevine, it was a biggie cuz the station was
raided by FCC agents, a SWAT team (armed with automatic weapons!), and
members of various other government agencies. The whole station was cleared
out, including non-station items. I won't go into everthing here, but I've
got about 5 articles archived on the Links section of the RFI! Webpage
(http://www.frn.net/rfi) site in the next day or so.
Here's some a little bit of info, straight from the station:
"102.1 RETURNS TO THE AIR DURING PROTEST
102.1 Deejays somehow managed to get the station back on the air
using borrowed equipment, and the station was audible throughout town. Even
at the FCC office, where over 100 protesters waved signs banners, and jeered
at the local authorities across the street. There were no casualties. The
St Pete times quoted ; " As if on cue, 102.1FM was blasting We want the
Airwaves, when Brewer wheeled his black and red van up to a noisy, cheering

FCC CHANGES LOCAL TELEPHONE NUMBER
Due to the large volume of dissatisfied listeners calling the local
FCC office in Tampa, the thugs have disconnected their local number. Thanks
to all who called in to express their views and protest the FCC's illegal
actions. Now, lets see if we can get the new number for Tampa, and in the
meantime, we all should call the FCC's new call center number TOLL FREE at
1-888-CALL FCC. Express your views TODAY !

LOCAL NEWS SUPPORTS PIRATE RADIO
Channel 9 here in Tampa is supportive of our cause. A reporter was
here today taking video of the damages caused to our home by the thugs. She
even went on the roof to shoot the tons of hardline and guywire left behind
in the raid. Bay news 9 is also doing a viewer poll on the topic of

WALL STREET CRASHES AGAIN !
After Brewer's apperance on the front page of the Wall Street
Journal, and the coincidental filing of the FCC's law suit on the day it was
released, the WSJ once again prints a small blurb in section C20 and a
shamless slam in the "Winners / Losers" section in F4. http://www.wsj.com
Any publicity is good publicity, so score 1 point...
TRIB GETS LAST PLACE FOR B-10
Another story ran today in the Florida Metro section on page 10. On page
11... The OBITS ! Anyway, Tribune reporter Dean Solov has kept the story
going everyday since the raid. He seems to have a perverse interest in the
return of the station to the air. Well Dean, like I always say, STAY TUNED !

Hobby Broadcasting
For everyone interested in hobby-type broadcasting, whether micro radio,
pirate radio, Part-15, cable-access TV, Internet radio, etc: The new
magazine "Hobby Broadcasting" should be out sometime around February. It
should be about 32 to 48 pages in an 8.5" x 11" format--featuring lots of
how-to articles about personal broadcasting. Right now, we're finally up to
requesting articles & classified ads, selling advertising, and processing

GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS FOR =93QSL WHORES=94?
First the bad news. Canada Post is currently on strike, so no mail is
coming in or out of the Great White North, in case you were trying to send a
report to a station using the Merlin maildrop (or if you were planning on
sending a QSL to a Canadian listener).
The good news? Bram Stoker had added several new QSLs to his growing list
of over 50 QSL designs. The new designs include =93The Punishment for
List-Logging=94 and =93Early Greek DXers find a novel use for dish antennae"
And more good news. Dean Soundgarden from Lounge Lizard Radio has two new
QSLs available in his "Gods of Lounge" series of QSLs: Al Martino and Tom
Jones. I can't wait to get my Al Martino QSL!

RADIO NEPTUNE was the station being relayed via RADIOO ZODIAC last sunday on
6275 kHz. The stations played off air recordings of stations recently heard
in the USA and they gave the Blue Ridge Summit, PA address for any reports.
RADIO PERFEKT was back on the air today with a strong signal but causing
signals besides the main QRG on 6260 and 6280 kHz! Mr.Charly used a bad
microphone either.

It seems that today, although conditions on the 48mb were very poor first=
thing in the morning, the long skip favoured stations from Holland and=

GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS FOR ?QSL WHORES??
First the bad news. Canada Post is currently on strike, so no mail is
coming in or out of the Great White North, in case you were trying to send a
report to a station using the Merlin maildrop (or if you were planning on
sending a QSL to a Canadian listener).
The good news? Bram Stoker had added several new QSLs to his growing list
of over 50 QSL designs. The new designs include ?The Punishment for
List-Logging? and ?Early Greek DXers find a novel use for dish antennae"
And more good news. Dean Soundgarden from Lounge Lizard Radio has two new
QSLs available in his "Gods of Lounge" series of QSLs: Al Martino and Tom
Jones. I can't wait to get my Al Martino QSL!

RADIO NEPTUNE was the station being relayed via RADIOO ZODIAC last sunday on
6275 kHz. The stations played off air recordings of stations recently heard
in the USA and they gave the Blue Ridge Summit, PA address for any reports.
RADIO PERFEKT was back on the air today with a strong signal but causing
signals besides the main QRG on 6260 and 6280 kHz! Mr.Charly used a bad
microphone either.

It seems that today, although conditions on the 48mb were very poor first thing in the morning, the long skip favoured stations from Holland and Germany as things began to improve.
Ozone International also commented on the poor conditions early on -
however he was on the air (on a new frequency) when things began to pick up.
