I have modified my HF-150, i.e. I made a S-Meter which works very well 
and I have illuminated the display.

To illuminate the display I made a thin polyacryl plastic with aluminium 
at the other side behind the display and a small lamp at the one side of 
this mounting. this is not very bright, but enough in darkness.

For the S-Meter I used a schematics that was pubished in an older issue 
of Elektor. This is a more or less standard application schematics of 
the NE604/614. I used an NE614 and it works very well with a small 
100uA-meter installed at the left side of the display, above the volume 
control. Of course I had to "break out" some part of the front side... 
It works even better with a greater S-meter (also 100 micro-amperes) 
outside.

At the moment (at work) I don't have more info here. For those who are 
interested: please drop me a mail (preferrable to my uni-freiburg 
address, see below) and I will send you more info. If I have the time 
(perhaps at Christmas holidays?) I will publish this and other 
modifications (e.g. for the AOR3000A) on my homepage.

By the way I am also interested in other modifications for the HF-150. 
Especially to build in a good CW-filter (500 Hz or narrower).
