[HCDX]: 60 mb logs -- 3 January 1998 -- US Pacific Northwest

I heard these stations this morning here in Poulsbo, WA (about 15 miles west of Seattle).  I used an NRD535 with a 50 foot longwire antenna 15 feet above ground:
  • 4750 -- 1440 UTC (tentative)  Xizang PBS, Lhasa -- in language similar to Chinese (assumed Tibetan) with folk music and dialog (opera?)
  • 4753.31 -- 1443  RRI-Ujang Pandang -- talk by OM in Indonesian.
  • 4775 -- 1445 AIR-Imphal -- in English with talk by OM about India and development.
  • 4800 -- 1450 China National Radio 2 - Minority Languages -- Man and woman talking in lang similar to Chinese; brief orchestral music at 1451; followed by what sounded like advertisements
  • 4815 -- 1455 China Radio International from Togtoh -- closing music from Mongolian program; carrier until 1500 with "East is Red" IS, followed by IDs in Chinese and Russian, then Russian program.  Parallel to 4833 (Hohhot)
  • 4820 -- 1505  Two stations here -- Women talking in Chinese-similar language -- 1998 Passport lists Xizang PBS here but this is not parallel to 4750 nor other Xizang outlets listed in 1997 WRTVH (4035, 5020, 5950, 6200, 7110) nor with China National Radio 1 or 2 outlets.  Other station weaker, south Asian-style music, assume it is AIR-Calcutta.

  • 4860 -- 1514 Chita Radio? -- Man and women talking in Russian -- echo -- either dual path or two transmitters here.
  • 4900 -- 1522 Voice of the Straits, Fuzhou -- Man talking in Chinese, time pips at 1530, news read by woman (played "My Old Kentucky Home" just before news).  Parallel to 4940, 5050, 5508.
  • 4915 -- 1524 --  Guangxi PBS from Nanning -- Aaron Neville song, then man talking in Chinese; parallel to 5050 (where it competes with Voice of the Straits).
  • 4920 -- 1526 -- AIR - Chennai -- vocal raga
