One thing I found to be fun was listening to hometown stations as
"DX" when on a trip to a distant location. When I went to Ireland
in 1977, I enjoyed "reverse DXing" Boston stations such as WRKO-680,
WHDH (now WEEI)-850, WBZ-1030, WEZE(now WPZE)-1260, and WMEX (now WNRB)
on 1510. At dawn I'd put some Boston news on a cassette and I'd play
it back to my wife when she woke up an hour or so later. We'd know
what the weather was like back home, how the sports teams were doing,
and what was happening in Boston politics.

In 1986 I was sent on many business trips to El Paso, Texas. Once
in a while I'd get WBZ-1030 on my Sony ICF-2010 (when KTWO and
Mexico QRM relented). Again it was a joy to "reverse DX" and
keep up with events back home. WBZ was tougher DX in Texas than
it had been in Ireland; furthermore, it was the only loggable
station from MA.

I just offered this as another "spin" on DXing away from home.
