[HCDX]: Pirate Pages (PiPa) #219

Howdy all & welcome to PiPa#219! (This is just the cover sheet, PiPa #219
should either be an attached file to this or should follow right after my
own greetings & name).

This issue's a few weeks late & I'm desperately trying to catch up with
everything. Expect the next issue (#220) in the next few days.

The Summer issue of Hobby Broadcasting us out right now & you might even
find it at a newsstand or book superstore. It's 40 pages (25% longer than
the Spring issue), including Ian O'Sphere's feature on the current low-power
proposals before the FCC, an interview with the Voice of the Voyager, AM/MW
transmitters, DYNAKit FM transmitter review, recent convention info, news,
music reviews, classifieds & more.
The Fall issue is in the works right now. We've got a feature on
public-access TV lined up & also one on finding old video. If you want to
get in a classified (free for subscribers), an article, letter, or ad,
please contact me ASAP!
For a sample of HB (a year's sub is $12), send $3 in the US ($4
outside) to: Hobby Broadcasting, PO Box 642, Mont Alto, PA 17237

RADIO FREE VINYL USES PROVIDENCE. P.V. Chloride of RFV dropped us an email
note letting us know they now use the Providence drop and accept reports
using the email address of: rfvynil@xxxxxxxxxxx
They also hope to test on 27500 kHz during 1900-200 weekdays in the near
future. On the FRN, PVC said that his dipole went bad, but that he should be
back soon.

A QUESTION FROM DJ BLIZZACK OF WACK: If we were able to provide a non
toll-free phone number, with the caller paying only the regular LD rates
(not a 900 number or anything) would we receive any live calls that we could
put in the air? We are looking at the possibility of some type of pre-paid
wireless service, which wouldn?t require a contract or any billing info.
Please respond to this at our wackradiomail@xxxxxxxx address. Keeping the
airwaves Free, DJ Blizzak WACK Radio, USA

COMMENTS:
Shawn Axelrod: ?Finally some DX. Conditions have been terrible with only a
few bits of music or talk heard last week or so?

Brad Clark: ?Bands are VERY noisy out west, but last night (0100-0400 6/16
GMT) I *did* manage to hear Bam Bam and Capt. Bob in QSO before the sun set,
doing testing... it is good to hear some of the 0300-later activity, as
anything before local sunset gets wiped out.  Ops - stay up and transmit
late for us poor Left Coasters, OK? New pirate heard on 6/13 throughout the
evening was HOWLIN? AT THE MOON RADIO, with ?H.M. Murdock? at the controls.
Signals were 444 in Idaho, HatMR said he was in the ?NW Sector of the US?
which is why he was so strong to me. Antenna is inverted vee tuned for
6955 with 15' center height, rx is Icom.?

Scott McArdle: ?Well, we?re about due for a good
propagational-week-end...let?s hope we?ve got one.  I?ve heard others
commenting recently about the slow growth of the current sunspot cycle?.
?Thanks to all the ops who do an occasional show after 0300 UTC, as static
levels have usually diminished here by then. Propagation has been pretty
decent this past week, too. Unlike last weekend.?

Bill McClintock: ?Pretty lean times for me lately. Major antenna change in
the works...?

Dick Pearce: Never did so much listening for so little results as lately.
Can?t wait for winter!!

Nigel Pimblett: ?only one logging this week. Just too much daylight right
now for 6955 to work well out here?.

Lee Silvi: ?Still a lot of atmospheric noise this past weekend! Some new and
strong AM signals this past week but most didn?t ID. Due to signal strength
and good quality audio I presume some, if not all, were brought to us by the
same unidentified station on the air several nights recently?

Niel Wolfish: ?No logs for me this week as I was too lazy to write down all
the various unidentified stations playing Rush songs and/or the various QSOs
involving Major Spook.?

NEWS:
??
RADIO COCHIGUAZ from South America made it to Europe again! After having been
heard in Finland last week, now a German reported the station on midweek in
LSB mode! Relays from JOLLY ROGER RADIO and RADIO PIRANA were heard also.

The mysterious station TUBESMOKE RADIO was heard again this very early sunday
morning. The station name couldn?t be verified again, someone said it sounded
like GUNSMOKE or similar. Maybe someone can help us herewith! Address?

CLINIC RADIO has been a ?one-off? today especially for the Maik Koehler Free
Radio Contest run by good ole RADIO DR.TIM fame now called ?Jack the Ripper?.
QSLs were promised via Wuppertal or c/o Free Radio Info,Dortmund for a faster
reply! The programme consisted of alternating awfull classic and techno mx!

RADIO BREMEN was heard again on 48 metres during the nighttime. Results were
excellent. Maybe it?s worth-while for other stations again to relaunch night-
time broadcasting on 48 metres besides 76 metres, where often is too much QRM
