Re: [HCDX]: Beverage Antennas

You ever consider an active antenna. Not as cheap as a beverage but many of
the better ones such as the ARA 60 have some advantages over the longwire.
I have been on dxpeditions where my active antenna has out done the long
wires. The only problem with the ARA 60 is that the wall wart power pack
produces a hum and should be trashed and a better one used. I can't
understand why they make such a fine antenna and put a piece of garbage
power pack with unit. The hum is amplified and increases the noise level.
I use Gel Cells and no wall warts and I get a very nice clean signal. Just
about "0" maintenance and the deer and hunters can't reach it. Mounted 15
or 20 feet in the air. But who knows, some hunter may decide to check his
shooting ability.
