Have you considered electric fence wire for subject?  Although bare, it is
available with copper clad to wit the feedline can be soldered to.  Some
advantages are: can be tensioned fiddle string tight w/o worry of breaking,
comes in 1/4mi (or longer) spools, much cheaper than soft copper and much
stronger.  Although an animal might pull it off the supports or pull the 
supports out of the ground, I doubt one could break it.  It is extreeemly
strong stuff tensile strength wise.
