the Koran. 1124 man announcer in AR with  several IDs and schedule. Very

1128- 21480- NETHERLANDS- R.Netherland., 1128, Program end in Asian
language, into chime IS. Fair. (Valko, USA 5 July)

1130- 9525- INDONESIA-  The Voice of Indonesia, Jakarta, 1130* - 1150
Japanese(presumed) News, comments and Music, at s/on in this language
mention several times Indonesia, 33433, (Eramo, Argentina)

1132- 15265- UNITED ARAB EMIRATES- UAE R., 1132-1400, Nonstop AR vocal
music to 1142, then possible religious feature  with man presenter and
Koran shortly at 1153. At the top of every hour, plays the same short
pleasant signature tune, 5+1 time ticks, then ID. Quite good. Thought
this might be Qatar at first. (Valko, USA 5 July)

1134- 6260.25- CHINA PR.-   Quinghai PBS, 1134-1145, Jul 28, talks M
anncr, at 1145 hrd ID in Chinese, then continue talking the M  anncr.

sermon format in presumed Vietnamese at tune-in, no breaks at half hour,

"Voice of Hope", into station promo, freq quote, address and website
quote, http://www.awr.org/index.html into mornng magazine style feature,
no sign of Forli, Italy site on 11800. (Van Horn, USA 7/28)

1238- 15095- PHILIPPINES-  FEBC Int'l, 1238. Lady's FEBC identificaton
noted, into a pop Christian tune, should be their Burmese service. Talk
at 1243, to morning features (32322). Recheck noted with continued
religious format at 1325 to 1329 melody tune. Choral song to 1332, with
only a slight program pause. New service commenced within seconds, talk
and Asian choral music. Perhaps their Naga-Ao service? (Van Horn, USA

1248- 9670- PHILIPINES- (Tent) Radio Veritas Asia 1248. Asian vocal tune
to 1251. Brief announcement (should be their Kachin service) into
continued music to 1255 sign-off routine, but nothing discernable

Popular de Independiente-Cuenca-Ecuador-4800 Khz. Over  the years I did
send many follow ups without any result, a few months ago the dutch
embassy has helped me to QSL,for them it was also  not easy,but I was
lucky to get the QSL. So this is really a very hard to QSL station. v/s

ARGENTINA- "FM Shalom 107.1," Mendoza, audible on 4880.6v all night or
from before 0800 on 7 of the 31 mornings in May, and also heard one
evening on 4881.0v. Continuous sermons and evangelical music
side-by-side, ads for evangelical bookstores in the  vicinity of Mendoza
(Emilio Pedro Povrzenic, Rosario, May Latinoamerica DX via Radio Nuevo
Mundo, report translated and  interpreted by Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 998
/ GH SHORTWAVE/DX REPORT 99-32, July 27 ) My guess is that this was
actually third harmonic of 1627 or so (gh / GH SHORTWAVE/DX REPORT
99-32, July 27)

BRAZIL- Hi Glenn, after having been a keen but passive WORLD OF RADIO
listener for about 10 years, I thought I should send you  some  info for
the first time. A few words about myself: I'm a 27-year-old student of
political science, and I've been a more or less active DXer since the
mid-eighties. Here's my contribution to the world's best DX program:
(unless otherwise indicated, all items are based on my own observations;
times given in UTC) --- Radio Nacional do Brasil's external service
(English 1800-1920, German  1930-2050) has been missing from 15265 for
at least 6 weeks now. Extensive search for a new frequency has brought
no success, so I guess that either  their transmitter is once again out
of order or the service has been cancelled at all. Does anybody know

BRAZIL-  In the wake of reports that RNB's European service is closing
down, I have been checking for the North American service,  and not
hearing it, either - English at 1200-1320 supposed to be on 15445. July
20 at 1227 check I heard nothing but FEBA on 15445 with IS, and into
Nepali(?). After 1300 FEBA clashes with something else, presumably

BRAZIL- O problema eh que o presidente extinguiu a radiobras, que era
responasavel pelos transmissores. Ateh que se defina que  organismo
governamental passa a ser legalmente responsavel por eles, as
transmissoes, mesmo que continuem, serao a titulo precario. Um abraco

CHILE- Voz Cristiana has been audible since June 6 on 5675, // 6070 in
the daytime (Emilio P. Povrzenic, Rosario, Argentina,  Latinoamerica  DX
via Radio Nuevo Mundo) ---  6070 plus 5675 equals 11745, which I think
is another VC frequency, so this would be a difference mixing product

COSTA RICA-  Paz the cat, RFPI's mascot, has been spending more time in
the wild lately; upon a recent visit appeared to have been  injured,
perhaps by a coyote in the area (James Latham, RFPI Mailbag July 23  via
Hauser / GH SHORTWAVE/DX REPORT 99-32, July 27)

COSTA RICA- More from the current RFPI Mailbag, with James Latham, and
Ash, student who is about to depart after a 6-month stint. Due to
electrical storms blowing out equipment, RFPI is in need of modems and
computers, especially for the Progressive News Network people, who make
heavy use of them in gathering stories. If you have a discarded modem, a
28 or 14, and outboard/universal ones work  best, RFPI would like to
have it as backup, and you could get a tax write-off. Could also use
older computers, such as IBM 200 to 500  MHz. Contact the Oregon office

COSTA RICA- RFPI's goals include increasing the ease of reception around
the globe with the addition of 6 separate 100 kW  transmitters,
expanding the languages of broadcast, providing live interactive audio
streaming on the internet, and expanding the tape distribution of
programs produced by RFPI. The addition of a dedicated, continuous UN
broadcast presence on shortwave, or UN  channel, is seen as another key
area for development (RFPI Vista, June-August via WORLD OF RADIO 998 /
GH SHORTWAVE/DX REPORT 99-32, July 27)

COSTA RICA- Weird to hear RFPI, 21460-USB, still on at 0501 July 17 and
demodulated by stronger R. Pakistan with Qur'an. The two were pretty

CUBA- In the wake of Globe Wireless quitting CW in the USA, I tuned
across the 12/13 MHz maritime band just to see what CW was left. Most
prominent was CLA with its usual CQ marker on 13062.0 and weaker
//12673.6 at 1057 check. So the retro-cubanos are still sticking with CW
transmissions. I also heard on a frequency not noted an HL- CW station
from Korea (North?), and on 12829.8   something sending extremely slow
CW and dashes, both around 1100 and 1910 recheck July 19. Tho my code
speed isn't that fast, it's possible to be too slow for the impatient!

CUBA- Bubble jamming against non-Marti Voz Cristiana, 21500, has
resumed, noted both around 1300 and when VC was clearly audible
underneath at 1909 July 19. Just to be sure R. Marti hadn't sneaked in
here, the 21500 broadcast was indeed //21550. WYFR on 21525, not far
from Cuba, was quite weak by comparison, but beamed to NAf? (Glenn
